Hi,

A fellow Palomino owner here in NC repainted his recently.  I am sure he will chime in.

Basically, its a lot of work to prep the trailer, getting the old decals and stripes off.  Once that is done, you can roughen the surface, clean it off well, and repaint.  I think he used Rust-o-leum.  I use it for my roof every year or so, and will be doing the body and walls this fall.

Hi, I have just began to get mine ready to paint.Just to let you know acetone will get the glue off that is left behind by the decals.I will priming mine with a product from sherwin williams called pro-cryl it is a industrial primer. Then i will be top coating it with a finish product called Sher-cryl also a latex industrial paint.I am going to be rolling mine since the siding already has a texture. Maybe a 3/8 nap not decided yet. Good luck. Take pictures.

DBF wants to repaint our 93 Rio Grande. We have already done the painstaking work of removing all those pesky decals and pinstriping. Let me tell you those things are stuck on there really good. I never thought of using acetone to remove the glue residue, I tried to use Goo Gone, but it didn't work very well. I'll try the acetone.
Please post pictures of your paint job, I would love to see it works out.

I painted our camper with a short nap roller and high grade latex enamel from Lowes. The roller leaves a bit of texture but that was fine with me. To me, it looks fine. Prep on the smooth aluminum was done with a scotch brite pad to give some tooth for the new paint. I do all my fixes outdoors by the house and the Oklahoma winds meant spraying wasn't a choice. I cut in the edges with a 1 inch paint brush then rolled the rest. It's a pretty low-tech way to paint, but worked for me and looks a WHOLE lot better than the original green and yellow scheme.

I am planning to paint mine soon. I have some white 2-part Teflon impregnated epoxy bottom paint left over from a boat repair that never happened. It will probably outlast the pup.

I used Rustoleum & a roller on mine, and RV Roof paint on the roof. It didn't come out too bad, considering I'm horrible at painting.

I just primed and painted mine safety yellow by Rustoleum. The Coleman had a smooth surface and I wanted a rough surface to hide imperfections and acheived that with the primer and 3/8" nap roller. Worked out well. Click the camera for a couple of pics

sdn40, that looks sharp with your diamond plate and chrome rims. I like that scheme you have.

Nice job sdn40, so far I have only painted the under frame with Hammerite (Rustoleum) after wire brushing it, it now looks good as new.

I painted my coleman last year

Before

After

I just used a good primer and rustoleum paint on the sides.  On the roof, I used a good latex.  Looks great and went on easily.  I rolled it on with a low nap roller.
