Help with coleman lens cover supplier
« on: March 02, 2010, 11:46:05 AM »
Sorry bout this.  I'm usually handy enough with google and the forum search tool, but I can't seem to find a supplier for replacement lens covers.

I have a 2003 Coleman Tacoma (technically I think it's a 2003.5).  The brake light lens covers are ok.  I'm looking to replace the marker lights lens covers.  The red ones have the marking "SAE P2 A 99."  The amber ones have no marking on them but they are identical size and shape to the red ones.

I do have a "local" supplier but he is over an hour away from me and I'd rather just have an on-line retailer ship em to me.

Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly the coleman/fleetwood uses Bargman 58 lens. Most campers use Bargman 59, so you will have to hunt around.  I learned this bit of information when getting new lenses for my pal. I had picked up the 58 lens and was told it was just for coleman/fleetwood.

there is a seller on ebay that has the wrap around lens and the whole light if you need it. Just go under trailer and capmer parts on Ebay motors and type in"bargman" in the search box. It will show up on the list.Just scroll down Plus there is a picture of the lens.

Thanks!

Had no luck finding replacement lenses.  Decided to replace the entire light kit with the 59 Bargmans.  A guy on ebay was selling 12 lights for $13!!!  Six red and six amber.  The shipping was $7.  So for $20 I'll be replacing all my marker lights.  That's cheaper than I could find lenses alone!!  I'll have to buy an extra red lens from my local dealer but I figure I'm still way ahead.  Would have loved to done the LED route but they were too expensive.  At least the 59 Bargmans seem to be pretty common.

I had to replace my marker lens covers on the 2004 Niagara as they were cracking.  They were not Bargmans but some no name knckoff that no standard lens would fit.  I ended up buying them at the dealer and even had to order a few.  The newer ones were better quality and lasted longer.

If you want to improve the visibility of your marker lights without springing for LED's, try putting metal repair tape in them behind the bulbs:

It's not as bright as an LED, but it's a visible improvement over stock.

Got all the lights replaced tonight.  Went better than I thought it would.  Drilling out the old rivets was easier than I thought it would be too.  Ended up having to cut the old wires just behind the bulb and then I used butt end connectors to attach the new wires.  I know using the crimp connectors is frowned on by some but I think they will be just fine for years to come.  The new lights have a white plastic base as opposed to the stock black plastic base and it really helps the light shine brighter.  Only problem now is how bad the old brake lights look.  I think they'll be next.  I'll at least try the reflective tape trick.

Yep, ours cracked during one winter and we still haven't found replacements....ordered several from online places, not the right ones.  Stop by the local Coleman dealer every now and then, he is always backordered....

So, we removed the bulbs from the center lights and put the two that are still in one piece on the left and right side.

This one place that I know my local trailer places get parts from. Hope it helps. Its where I found tailights for my '88 coleman last month. 1 of my taillights got taken out by a tree branch. I paid $7.00 for a new lens.
