Weber Grill - Low Flame
« on: March 15, 2010, 09:08:33 PM »
We've owned a Baby Weber 200 grill for a few years and I'm having a problem with a very low flame or sometimes the flame goes out.

- Tank is over 1/2 full.
- There is no adjustment to the regulator.
- I've blown air throw the burner to clear any spider webs.
- I've cleared the regulator
   1. Turn off the gas at the propane tank
   2. Disconnect the hose from the propane tank
   3. Open the lid of your BBQ Grill
   4. Turn all the burner valves to high
   5. Wait for 2 minutes
   6. Turn off all the burner valves
   7. Connect the gas line back up to the propane tank
   8. Turn the gas on slowly on the propane tank
   9. Light the grill using your normal lighting procedures
- I've searched here and the internet for other options.

I love this grill, just need to make sure it's reliable.  Any thoughts?

I'm having the SAME problem with my outdoor grill (too big for camping). I have NOT done all of the things you have done... mainly just disconnected the propane, reconnected it, and that's it. The first time I did that it worked great! And since then, nothing.

So I'm wondering if the regulator needs replacing? And if so, how does one replace it?? I see them at WalyPlace, the regulators...  guess I can get a friend to come over and change it out.

Hope you find the answer, Joe... your answer is probably my answer, as well.

Iffy Regulator?  If you are getting air thru the lines when you diconnect the regulator and limited gas flow when you reconnect could be a bad diaphram in the regulator.  The other thought is are there any quick disconnect on the line?  I had one go bad and could only get a little gas through it.  Just my  [2C]  Ray

After reading all you have tried my first two thoughts are:

Bad regulator
Bad safety valve on tank.

Lastly would be a bad or clogged valve assembly on the grill.

If possible I would try using a different tank. If that doesn't help replace the regulator and then go on to looking at and maybe replacing the valve assy on the grill.

It depends on how long you've had the Weber, but try to give them a call.  They may be able to help you isolate it, and depending on the age of the grill, it may still be covered under warranty.  I've had GREAT interactions with their customer service in the past, and will only buy Weber from now on because of it.
