Camplite Pop-up and the Main cable broke
« on: May 01, 2010, 06:50:32 PM »
Hi

I have a  [PU]. I think it has a goshen lift system but I dont know where to go from here as to how to repair it and what I need. Can someone help thanks.

BTW I "want" to repair it myself, I am good with this stuff. Anyone with a procedure to do it??

Thanks

Welcome to the Portal from Portland, Oregon! I know there are plenty of people in the portal that know about lift systems. I'm sure they will be able to help. :)

Here is a general diagram of the lift system, it may help you to pinpoint where you problem is and what you might need to do to fix it.  Please post a follow-up to let us know the specific issues and what is happening with the lift.

Thanks RFR...it is indeed a Goshen and am I corrent in saying since its a 4post unit it is the 55 inch master tube.

Anyway, what I need to know, is  there a prescribed way, in steps of how to do this properly? I also need to know what I am going to need cable wise, Can I get it from a home depot or should I go right to a camper place. how long do I need it?

I think this post from a few years ago may be a good place to start, it pretty much walks you through the parts and procedures needed to replace the lift.

If you run into a problem or need parts, you may try giving RVworkshop a call.  They gave me free advice when my winch broke last year, and actually directed me to a local store that carried it to save time on installation.  Good people!

Thanks all for the info. Since it has been the weekend, I havent been able to get ahold of Goshen yet. However when I do, I will be asking them to verify that the system goes with my pop-up and they will also be able to tell me and provide the pre-made cable That I will need and the instructions.

Since I am doing this is it a good idea to replace the pusher springs or if it aint broke dont mess with them? Also, when you do this has there been something, a part of the system that youve removed or tinkered with to do this cable replacement that you think need to have a replacement also. Since your in there. thanks
