Coleman roof seal
« on: November 02, 2005, 04:49:39 PM »
I have a 1998 Coleman popup. The rubber seal that goes all the way around the bottom edge of the roof is coming apart. It's a black seal, and it makes the seam between the top and bottom sections weather tight when the camper is closed up. I've glued it several times and it keeps coming apart. I am looking for a place to buy a new one. My local camping retailer wants $8/foot which seams really high to me. Anyone know where I can get one online?

Thanks

I know your message is a couple of years old but what was the final result?  I'm looking at Austin Hardware and it seems like their seal material may work---am I wasting my money?

I just received a gasket repair kit (ordered through a Coleman dealer) for my 2002 Coleman/Fleetwood Mesa - it is on a Trimlok, Inc. roll and the product can be viewed at this site http://www.trimlok.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=27.  About $275 + shipping for a 250 ft roll.

The kit was for both the weather-stripping-like rubber seal and the U-shaped PVC trim edge that glues to the roof.  I was under the impression that I could just replace the rubber and will check with the dealer on this.

What was the Austin Hardware seal that worked?  I just found this thread as I am having the same problem.  The links don't work anymore.  Thanks.

kitchiw,

If the seal is just separating (not rotting or detiorating) you might want to use some clear Liquid Nails adhesive on it. I did that on my 96 Coleman and it worked great.

The seal is in good shape.  The gap is about 2" wide due to roof sag I believe.  I probably will need to push the roof together just to close the gap.  Funny thing is I just picked it up today from the shop after having the lift system worked on. - kitch
