The Sag Wagon and Big Bertha
Here is my 2006 Fleetwood Sequoia high wall PUP, similar to a Niagara but no slide, with an over/under axle conversion to give about 5" of lift for an otherwise very low slung frame.  Pulling it is my 2007 Toyota 4Runner V8 full-time 4x4 capable of pulling 7,000 pounds but I sure feel the PUP going…

Jayco VIN Number?

I am trying to figure out the year of my Jayco pop up camper. I got the pop up for free and was told that it is a mid-1980's but it looks more like a mid-1970's. Old cars used to have the year of make on the taillights, so I tried that and there is a "73" at the end of the number on the taillight, so I'm thinking that it could be a 1973. The exterior siding is a corrugated aluminum, if that helps identify the decade in which it was made. I looked for a VIN, and I found some numbers stamped into the a-frame of the trailer:   0801 B1180187   But, I read that the VIN is 17 digits long. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place...? Can anyone help me with determining the year? Thanks!

Most manufactures put a ID label on the camper.  Its normally on the street (drivers) side near the front.  The label should have the VIN, year, make & Model and weight, and tire info.    If its not there look inside it could be taped inside a cabinet door.  The VIN is also sometimes stamped in to the tongue of the trailer as well.

If you could post a pic that would be helpful as well.  Maybe someone here can help ID it.

I did check for a tag with the manufacturer information, but I could not find anything. Here is a picture of the camper in case anyone can identify the year by the picture.

Forget the taillight idea, The cars had a different taillight every year. The taillights on a PUP for the most part are generic and fits many different things. The VIN label is on the frame street-side front corner on the frame on our Jayco. After 1980 the tenth digit of the VIN is the year. B=81, C=82, D=83, E=84. F=85, G=86, H=87, J=88, K=89, L=90, M=91, N=92, P=93, R=94, S=95, T=96, V=97 , W=98, X=99. An example of a Jayco vin is 1UJAJ0106K1B12345 (K=89).
If you want, you can e-mail the picture and I will post it, and how long the inside of the box is. (8, 10, 12 foot)

Well if the front of VIN is missing it maybe something like this 1UJ--0801B1180187. This 10th digit is B =1981  This just a good guess on my part

You can not "upload" images directly to Popupportal, you must store your images on an image service like Webshots, Flickr or PhotoBucket or one of many other images servers.

Once you have uploaded your images to an imaging service, you may link individual images to your posts. Each of these services functions differently as to how they allow you to link to your images. Most has a screen that says "Link to it"' or "Photo URL".  The link will always end with  .jpg or .gif.

Once you have the URL to the picture, in a new topic or a reply body, enter:

[img]URL OF PICTURE[/img]
The trick to making this work is the [img]  [/img] tags.

Example using the Popupportal logo:



What I entered was:
[img]http://popupportal.com/images/pup_logo.jpg[/img]

It's that simple.

Look under your camper behind the axle there should be a placard small metal stamped placard that will have your vin on it mine was on the first piece of angle iron cross race directly behind the axle the placard was on the side facing the tongue. Thy is where I found it at on my old jayco. Good luck

You probably have it figured out by now or quit trying. But...
I have a 1973 Jayco Cardinal.  Yours appears to be a late 70's, early 80's model.
