My new to me 1993 Palomino TXL. Before pics and project updates.
The wife and I just purchased a new to us 1993 Palomino TXL. It's 95% solid with working appliances (purchased for a mere $750) but definitely needs some updating. In the coming months I plan on:

What Products are Involved?

This recall involves Reese Part No. 54970 and Pro Series Part No. 63970 weight
distribution shanks marked with the following serial numbers: TD100435, TD100451,
TD100456, TD100511 or TD100617. These parts were sold both individually and as a
component in certain Reese and Pro Series weight distributing kits.

What is the Problem?

As a result of a production error, some weight distribution shanks were not manufactured
to the correct specifications. As a consequence, the shank may fracture when subjected
to load during installation or use, potentially causing a crash.

What You Should Do?

Please follow these instructions to determine if you own one of the recalled shanks.

1. Locate the serial number on the shank

2. If the serial number is TD100435, TD100451, TD100456, TD100511 or
TD100617, or if the serial number cannot be read, please contact Cequent
Customer Service at 1-877-208-2573 to coordinate pickup and replacement of
the shank. DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE SHANK. A replacement shank
will be provided free of charge.

1-877-208-2573. For the most up-to-date information concerning this recall, please visit

Take the last period after PDF out when it comes up in your browser. It works fine. I'll correct it when I can get access to a pc.

Which part of the shank did you find the part# stamped on? I couldn't find any numbers on the shank, but I also didn't remove the head either.  Is the number on one of the sides with the holes out of view with the head on?  Mine is basically the Reese 400 single but made under the Draw-tite branding not sure if this applies to mine or not but want to be sure. I purchased it in early 2010.

Answered my own question.  Mine was not one of the ones with problems and was produced before August....helps when you read  [RTM] the actual link  [V] May be time for another cup of coffee  :)
