My new to me 1993 Palomino TXL. Before pics and project updates.
The wife and I just purchased a new to us 1993 Palomino TXL. It's 95% solid with working appliances (purchased for a mere $750) but definitely needs some updating. In the coming months I plan on:
Refinishing and repainting the frame and tongue
Repainting the whole of the pups exterior
Updating all t…

replacement mattress for a popup

Our used coleman utah is very nice but the mattresses are killing my back. The foam rubber mattress flattens out entirely. Anyone have any recommendations for a better replacement mattress?

When we had to replace the mattress in the old pup, we bought foam at a local upholstery place, making sure it was a density that would last. It was a bit too firm by itself, so we bought a 1" memory foam topper, which made it very comfortable. In the new Cobalt, the mattresses were also not so comfortable by themselves, so we added 2" memory foam to each one (we checked our heights to make sure we could use that much thickness, 1" was all we could use in the previous pup).
There are different types of replacement mattresses available. There have been various threads here: http://www.popupportal.com/index.php?board=79.0

The memory foam mattress(es) in our pup are just a bit too firm for my liking. So I'm going to try one of the 2" "egg crate" mattress toppers, something like this one:

I'll report back as to how it works after our next trip.
