Just got a new to me 2006 popup.
Greetings from Missouri. My wife and I just bought a 2006 Fleetwood Niagara. It's by far the biggest and nicest of the 3 pop-ups I have owned.

sport rack a21020 on a jayco 1007
« on: May 19, 2012, 11:36:47 PM »
Has anyone installed this rack onto the factory roof rails of a jayco tent trailer? I cannot seem to get the metal feet for the cross-bars to line up with the slot in the roof t-rail. There is a moulded plastic spacer provided that, when inserted between the metal feet and the t-rail, aligns the mounting holes properly but then none of the supplied bolts are of the proper length to fasten the feet to the t-rail. Help??

I'm replying to my own message because I solved my problem with these racks. I did have to buy longer allan bolts to pass through the molded inserts and attach to the roof rail. Another thing that I had to do was drill holes through the inside sleeve of each cross-bar to allow the two chrome screws to seat properly into the bar and attach the two pieces of the bar to each other. Why these holes weren't pre-drilled at the factory I don't know. Once I did these two things the racks attached perfectly. I then attached the SportRack A882 elite upright to the base rack and had no problems. I used foam pads to protect the bike finish from getting scratched by the plastic clamps on the A882. The bikes seem to be solidly fastened down so I'm ready for the road test.

Hey Mr. Gwncanuck
Just purchased the same rack for my 10 starcraft (jayco)
Any chance you could pass along pics of what you had to do to mount it to the channel on top??
Did you still have to drill through the roof??
Any help would be VERY welcome. (leaving from TO to DC on Fri.)
Thanks in advance

I have that rack on my old Jayco 705.  It took me a bit to figure out how to put it together (the instruction diagrams are terrible!) but I did it without extra drilling thru the crossbars or anything.

(you DO have to drill into the roof- that is how it is designed.)

I don't exactly understand the problem you are describing but if you had pics maybe I could help.

I'll try to get post some pics today, but basically those two pieces shaped like this:  [    ]   go on the the sides of the bar like this  [ o ]   with the bottom part of the   [    bracket tucked under the bracket that attaches to the roof.      They are held in place by screws.  It helps to get another person to hold everything in place while you're putting the screws in b/c otherwise it all falls apart.

If you have the original box with pictures on it, take a close look at the pictures.  That's how I figured it out.

There aren't *holes*, the screw (bolt) goes through a slot in the   [  bracket.

Thanks! It looks obvious now. I was missing the plastic piece that the bolt goes though that fills the gap between the bar and the bracket, and I had the wrong bolts. I found it in parts for another project I have on the go, so somewhere I mixed that up. Everything is nice and tight now.
