    Hello,

We are Jerry and Becca. We are in our mid-50s. Although we have never introduced ourselves in this forum, we have learned a great deal from this site. Three months ago, my wife and I purchased a 1983 Coleman Sun Valley and with the help of this site we have been working on improvements with the PUP. Having been sucking in information from this site, I feel it is time for me to contribute. The PUP is actually in good shape for it's age. The canvas is intact, no rips or tear, all the zippers work. Since acquiring it, we have re-floored, new curtains installed, flipped the axle for ground clearance, replaced bearing & hub (new hub uses lug nuts),
new 14 inch tires with aluminum wheels. Currently, I am installing a Coleman Mach A/C with heater. Which means, I am also reinforcing the roof to handle the 110 lbs. A/C unit. I have been taking pictures along the way and I will be sharing those.

Our TV is is 1995 Grand Cherokee with a 4 inch lift that is why I have to have the PUP lifted as well.

    Here are some initial pictures.

I agree with everyone else great work!. Now for some safety things... Make sure your cables are in great shape the added weight could snap one or more, Replace the roll pins in the whiffletree with solid ones, keep the lift system clean and lubed starting at the whiffletree and including the pulleys and lift posts.Enjoy the AC I would love it in my 88 Columbia but can't justify the expense.

Hacksaw - I was at a garage sale one day and I saw the A/C unit a a guy's garage floor. I asked about it an he said he took it out of hardshell camper cause he could not get it in the garage with the A/C on the roof. So he took it out and it had been sitting on garage floor for 5 yrs. I offered him a $100 and he took it. So I am one happy camper.

Great stuff, 83SunValley! LOVE the work you did here!

Regarding your choice of insulation materials, I'm planning to insulate as well and I'm considering a Reflectix/Roxul combination but was also considering a foil backed rigid insulation.

[?] What's the product or trade name of the blanket insulation you used? Is that a foil back?

I have forgotten the brand but it is better and a bit more expensive than regular insulation foam. It is really dense. I will be at Home Depot later and I will get the brand.

I was just poking around at HomeDepot.ca but couldn't find it anywhere.
