I was told that people who have boats use the Bounce Dryer Sheets all around their cushions and bed mattress for spiders. (They have huge spiders) Does anyone ever spray their camper with an insecticide for spiders? I am currently in the process of spraying our house and wondered should I just spray the outside of the pop-up too. I also read on this forum that if your using dryer sheets for mice control you have to change them every 45 days. Does anyone really pop open their camper in the middle of winter to do this?

The jury is out on dryer sheets as mouse control. I've read that some people think they are effective and others have found mice nesting in them.

I do spray the tongue jack, the stabs and the tires/wheels with a residual killing juice.

This is the first time that I have read about Bounce dryer sheets controlling mice or insects. I have always thought they were just to help with odors. We use them to keep our camper smelling fresh. Now that I think of it, we have never had mice or insect problems with our popup. I do believe that this is a coincidence. I can't see a fresh smell as being a deterent to mice or insects.

I agree, probably a coincidence. But, we have never had a mouse in our clothes drier. [:D]

I have a small sportcruiser type boat and I have to tell you - the Bounce dryer sheets REALLY work. I put one in every corner and in every cupboard, storage bin, etc. and I never see a spider or get any webs. Most insects don't seem to like them either. Now with said - they don't do a thing for the outside. For outside (dock, docklines, pilings, etc.) I spray with Ortho Home Defense max about once a month (rain seems to wash it away after 6 weeks). The owners where I keep my boat have asked me what I use because they get bugs and spiders on their boat all the time, and they noticed there weren't even spider webs on my boat, dock or docklines.

So if you put the sheets inside and spray the underside of the camper (I never spray on fiberglass, plastic, vinyl, canvas or painted surfaces) you should be good.

We use them all the time, never had a mouse problem. The other thing that will work is branches from cedar trees.

Thanks for the replies, I wonder sometimes if the bounce dryer sheets do work in the beginning but after the 45 days most people do not replace them so them the scent isn't strong enough to deter the mice anymore. Just a thought.

Try the sheets around the house like in the garage or in the basment and see what happens. Do spiders avaoid them or hang out in them.
