    Hi all:
My name is Margaret and I recently purchased an all original 1965 Sears Ted Williams Curbside tent camper. I'm not new to vintage trailer renovation, but this is my first tent trailer like this. I restored a 54 Ranger years ago, and man, do I wish I still had it. Anyway, the hubby and I worked on cleaning, removing and replacing wheel bearings/seals today. This page from my blog will show you the rest. Have a great day.

I have seen it hard, but not that hard. I'm thinking the original owner left a lot of the grease in the bearing when they changed it. They used a different grease then what was used before. The grease were not compatible and this is the reaction after 35 years.

Worst I have ever seen, and hope the last time too. Hopefully the axle is ok did not overheat. Looking i would say that it is way overdue for a bearing job.

    Oh yeah,

You usually hear them first. When mine were this bad, I jacked up one side and took off the wheel, lightly pulled and had an axle in my hand... Wasn't the project I wanted at the time lol. Hopefully you found out safely.
