We went to East Fork State Park, near Cincinnati, this last weekend.

Saw this on the news this morning...

    Isn't that lovely?

Same bath houses my 4 year old daughters and wife was using.

Wow, that sends chills down your spine thinking how close you came to something like that. I say "thing" because that's not a human!

    Seriously.

This isn't going to deter us from camping.

I mean, lets be realistic. We've probably came in just as close of contact with a pedophile many other times, at the grocery store, mall, whatever, and never known it.

But this was just a bit shocking to see.

I used to work with a guy who got busted in an undercover sting operation. He had been trying to convinced a 12 year old girl on the internet to sleep with him. He was a real creep and just gave me the heebiejeebies. It really bugged me that a bunch of my other coworkers felt bad for him and would say he was set up because the cops instigated it. So? Who cares. He knowingly went into a situation thinking he was going to molest a 12 year old child. So what if the cops started the conversation, he tried to finish it. I absolutely could not stand the guy, and was really happy to see he'd gotten fired not too long after I left that job and went back to school.

And 'things' like this, are the reason I try to emphasize to fellow campers and everyone here....if you can't SEE your kids, you are at 50% odds something could happen to them. I'm not trying to be harsh, but my normal places around home to camp, NO ONE seems to know where their kids are. I've actually heard a parent ask the other, "Where's so-and-so?" and the other parent says, "oh, somewhere on his bike playing". Yeah, ok.

Just goes to show, you really can't rely on that 'campers are all great folks' thing.

    Be careful out there!!
