We're camping for the first time in our new Clipper 1285 SST. We were told that we could bypass the fresh water tank, however when using the city water hookup, the tank started to fill. Called Coachmen and Forest River, but they were no help. Owners Manual is a joke as there is no specific info on our make and model. Any insight you could share will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

there is a check valve in the water pump - it is supposed to keep water from flowing from the water system back into the fresh water tank. it is probably stuck open.
I have not had this happen, but have seen a few threads of this happening. (check out the forest rivers owners group forum - FROG). IIRC, I think the fix was to disconnect the city water, turn on the water pump and then reconnect to the city water see if that does not seat the valve. If that does not work, just fill the fresh water tank and use the pump rather than the city water connection so you can at least have a nice camping trip. Then take it back to the dealer to have them replace the valve.

Thanks for the quick replies!! We'll try that now. Thanks also for sharing the FROG forum. Will check that out, too!

I found both this forum and the FROG forum very helpful, though this forum gets more popup specific advise.
forgot to mention, when you turn on the pump, open a faucet to allow some water to flow, close the faucet, turn off the pump and then reconnect the city water and see if the valve reseated.

Yes, thank you! We even fixed our extremely slow draining sink thanks to this forum! Lots to learn, but stress level has definitely decreased knowing there's people like you who respond quickly with solutions!!! Thanks again!!!
