We are looking into a new to us tow vehicle for our 00 Coleman Tacoma (GVWR 3000) and have been looking at the Envoy. Doing some research and I've read that because of the short wheelbase you have a tendenacy to have more sway. Looking for opinions. Thanks

New or used Envoy? Aren't the older ones the same size as a trailblazer ? If so , with a tow package installed , you could tow your house . LOL , well not quite .
The new ones are cute (hehe) but not designed to tow much.

There is no new or old Envoy. They are the same as ever since 2003 and they are the same as a Trailblazer, Buick Ranier, and Isuzu. They have a 5K towing capacity from the factory, no work or additional parts required. If wheelbase is a concern, they also have an Envoy XL which has a longer wheelbase and a third row seat.

This guy doesn't like it. He never mentions towing, though.

    Envoy

I read the same article and that's why I made the post.

I have a full size, regular cab, short box, pick-up which has 115" W.D. -
Now it does perfectly O.K. for the weights and size trailers that have been towed so far, and I should think it would handle any size popup, I think it's about as short of a wheel base as I care to go. However, there's a fellow fisherman buddy that has a regular Ford Ranger pick-up (113" W.B.) and tows a popup 2' longer than my ole Starcraft and says with no problems.

Envoys arent that bad of a truck, but you can get better bang for your buck with a Trailblazer. Either one would handle your PUP just fine. The short-ish WB isnt going to hurt with sway, I tow with a heck of alot smaller truck than that and have zero sway issues.

BTW, bols2Dawol was partially correct, there are 2 generations of Envoy, the first ones were S10 Blazer counterparts, 2nd Gen are Trailblazer counterparts.

Well, we have one. Extended version with the third row seat. I've only towed with it once so far for a total of 139.6 miles. In that distance, it towed like a dream.

Ours gets 15.5 mpg. That's 8/10 per gallon less than my 2000 S10 Blazer gets. I've found that the secret to getting good gas mileage on either vehicle is simple. Don't drive them !!! [:D] I am serious !! I have cut down on my short hopping and exploration considerably.

This review is really scathing and the first bad one I've ever read about this vehicle. Sounds to me like the writer has some personal vendetta against GM, or SUV's, or Trailblazers, or maybe life in general.

I am sure I look for diffentent things in a truck or car, and I seem to never get much information out of the reviews on autos. I really don't car how big the radio buttons are. I want to know what the auto is going to be like after 100K miles. I discounted this review as soon as I got a quarter of the way through it. To tell you the truth, I can more about how hard the oil filter is to get to, then how pretty the fenders are.

Also close, The 1998-2000 GMC envoy was only a trim level of the GMC Jimmy, not an actual model.
