This weekend I'm gonna replace my ac gasket. It seems to be leaking there when it rains and also the condensation leaks through it also, instead of running down roof. Sounds like bad gasket right? I saw someone made a picture frame to lift the a.c. off the roof more. Is that necessary? What should I do while the a.c. is off to prevent leaking?

Just do the gig in one day! Any time spent covering the hole is better done putting the AC back in. It should be a fairly quick job.

The four bolts that hold the AC could have loosed up, to check pull inside cover off, there is
a bolt in each corner, it they are not tightened down water will leak from the area where the AC meets the roof, if they are tight then a new gasket is in order. Not a hard job to change it
but you will have to lift it up which means disconnecting the wires lining up over the 14"X 14" hole can be a booger, especially with a pup as you will have t raise it up to align with the hole.

Gasket swap is not very complicated.
Sometimes condensation leaking inside is from a stopped up drain hole.
