Finally finished the PVC part of the awning. We found this awning material at our fabric store and DW sewed it up with upholstery thread. The PVC is 1 1/4" schedule 40, except for the telescoping down tube that goes to the camper frame bracket... it is 1" schedule 40 that slides into the 1 1/4" for the telescoping down tube assembly. The down tubes attach to a PCV "tee" that I reamed out to be a slip-fit over the front horizontal tube to enable rotation if we change the pitch of the awning. The whole thing is fairly light weight and not too big... it has to weather some Oklahoma storms. For the really bad storms, we'll take it down lol. All the materials ran about $80. Thanks to all the awning makers who post here... I stole your ideas with reckless abandon <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Smile"> More pics in a folder at webshots.

Thanks ... the true craftsman(craftswoman) is my DW... she's the one that folded and sewed all those seams... if I had tried the sewing part I probably would have sewn my face to the carpet lol... all I did was cut PVC and drill holes. O1Y, there are two "tubes" sewn into the roof line... the first smaller one to hold the 1/4" wire inside for the awning track, and the large tube next to it to hold the PVC pipe. DW was able to sew the correct spacing on the fabric. And the part numbering and labeling... that's for me, the one that forgets how a key goes in a door sometimes lol. Here's a better pic of the two tubes or welts... the small square of material was sewn in by DW as a strain relief at the corner folds:

    Tekboy,
Could you post your webshots link? Our awning is getting very battered, and this looks like a possible replacement method. :)
