Is it safe to permanently store a box of matches in my pup? I didn’t know if vibration/friction from travel could cause a large box of strike-on matches to ignite.

I've had the same box of matches in mine since 2000 with no issues.

I've carried matches in the camper since the 70s with no problems.

Never thought about the possibility, but you could always store them in a small airtight box so that if they did ignite, there wouldn't be enough oxygen to do much. Keeps 'em dry, too. (I carry matches in my campers and have been on washboard roads so bad that the thermometer popped out of my thermostat...)

Had never thought about that in all my years of camping... I guess that could be possible... I don't carry strike matches per say but do carry those 'STRIKE-A-FIRE' fire starters in an box inside the trailer. May be what you are referring too...

I have ordered these in a 48-count box through AMAZON I think was without any problems getting...

They get shipped in boxes all over the world, so I don't think it's an issue.

As suggested, you could put them in a airtight container.

Like other said , never thought about it. Never a problem for me, and never have herd about it being a problem. People carry matches in cars all the time. Never saw a fire start that way.
