First trip out in our new-used pup. It was fantastic. The scenery was amazing especially from Penitintary hollow. The rock climbing was spectacular. (levels from beginner to advanced) Beaches were nice! Went fishing and caught 19 perch (it was a little late in the day to fish for anything else-crappie were caught earlier)This was so much better than a tent. Only thing I would have changed is the restroom areas could have used more attention!! We are going to go to Bonham SP next week.....

great to hear your trip went well. nothing like a new used pop up. We have also the experienced some of the SP in texas with bathrooms in need of attention, but not all parks, Some parks are very well kept and it could also be the time of the day. We like Livingston SP, Hunstville SP, and others in the area.

have fun at Bonham and let us know how the sites are, level, scenic, small, large, picnic tables, etc.

It is a nice area but I'm afraid to tell you that those were not perch you caught, they were sunfish....Texas has no perch. Furthest south you'll find perch is Illinois. Folks always have called them perch and they aren't even in the perch family, they are in the bass family. They are either sunfish or bream. Sorry I'm A Texas Master Naturalist and I just have to educate people when they call a cat a mountain lion if you know what I mean.

Glad you had a great time. I've been thru Mineral wells many times on the way to Possum Kingdom Lake (PK Lake)which is a bit further west from Mineral Wells. Check out PK State Park if you haven't yet.
