    So, I picked this up on Craigslist last weekend for $800. Unfortunately, I haven't taken any pictures (been meaning to, just haven't yet)... but I have the ones from the Craigslist ad..

    This is our first PUP, but I've had an "RV" before... right now, we plan on just keeping it as-is, however I'm seriously considering doing a restoration on it. The planned work at this point is:
    - Fresh water tank
    - Sink
    - Grey water tank (in-camper)
    - New countertop (old one is gone)
    - New Battery / holder
    - New Propane tank
    - Clean up
    - CD player w/ speakers
    - Control center
    - Re-wire and re-plumb
    - Diamond plate under propane tank / battery

    I have already taken out the vinyl on the step and sprayed a non-skid surface, however it didn't come out as planned, so I may re-do it with bedliner. I also painted the tongue black to make it look a bit nicer than the rust brown it previously had. As I dig deeper into it, I feel more and more like I need to do a restoration project on it, however my financial mind says it's not a great idea... guess I'll see how it goes this year with the camping season. I've got all those things to do before our first voyage on 5/8 weekend. Hope I can get it all done!

    Looks like a fun time is gonna be had by ya'll.
    Enjoy your PUP. A restoration on this one will be fun and just might be worth the time and effort. Good luck.

    Here are some updated pics... unfortunately, I got started right away and didn't have the camera... here's the pics, along with the list of mods / changes...
    <img src="http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/RenegadeRevo/Camper/DSCF3527.jpg" border=0>
    Had to re-wire the entire trailer tow wiring. Only driver side rear marker worked previously. Got all the wiring and lights for FREE from my job... switched from 4-pin to 6/7-pin wiring. (7-pin harness, 6-way wiring) markers are LED, stop/turn/tail is incandescent (can't argue with FREE).

    <img src="http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/RenegadeRevo/Camper/DSCF3529.jpg" border=0>
    Took this mod from Dirtyboy... Duplicolor Sprayed in bedliner on the step to replace the vinyl that was not only peeling up, but would be slippery when wet... I started with some crappy non-skid stuff, but ended up finishing up with the bedliner. Need to throw some paint on the sides to finish up...

    <img src="http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/RenegadeRevo/Camper/DSCF3530.jpg" border=0>
    Painted the tongue black...

    and added a coating of bedliner...

    New markers are smaller than previous ones... waiting for diamond plate to come in... gonna add small 5.5"x3.25" plate behind the new lights. Originally ordered the plate for battery box / LP tank mounting.

    loooooking goooood !!!

    I love reading about restorations/mods !

    how is the interior condition?
    it looks from the picture that someone re-caulked the top roof seams, you willprobably want to do the edge caps and check the center seam as well

    The entire roof was re-done a year or two ago. The guy said he spent $1200 to get it done... which makes me laugh 'cause I bought it for $800... I will make my final checks before I take it out. Had to do some exterminating... found a black widow... :(

    The interior is workable. It's not the way we want it, and that's what's coming this weekend. It is definitely camp-able... but, we want a sink and some of the "nice-ities" that the PUP can offer (running water, music, etc)... tonight I'll probably start working on my camper electrical... tomorrow is plumbing / galley work.

    Re: My \

    I did mine out of necessity. I only had one light that worked (driver side rear marker light)... but they were all pop-riveted on. I ended up breaking all of them out to get to the wiring, which I eventually ripped out and replaced anyways. I'm glad I did, but I now have large rivet holes that I need to fill (and I don't have a welder). I have done some more and will try to get some pics up tonight. I got the new battery box in and configured as well as power run into the camper. I also put new safety chains on it. I hope to put a new control center with battery gauge, battery cut-off switch and other switches... where the fire extinguisher used to be (it's ancient, and we're going to just get one of those $15 bottles of stuff)

    Re: My \

    Thanks guys! This thing is killing me... I've worked every night for the last 2.5 weeks straight on it, and it seems like I only make a little headway each night... I got the wiring to the fuse block and laid out my control center. My Dremel ran out of batteries, so I have to wait for it to charge before I can continue the cutting. I took some pics to show the progress (not tonight, but a few nights ago... here it is:

    I decided that Diamond Plate was the way to go for my accents... so, I got a nice big sheet from CutsMetal.com... and installed it under my batt box and LP tank (when I get it installed)... also got a new battery to replace the old (unknown condition) Interstate...
    [IMG]

    The LED side markers I got were just a LITTLE too small, so I finished them off with some diamond plate. Unfortunately, it's REALLY tough to cut, so it's a bit rough. I think one day I may just put a piece all the way down the side...
    [IMG]

    Here's the battery box... I attempted to put a cut-off switch in the front, but the box was too small... so, I had to come up with something to cover the hole I put in the front of the box... I think it worked well. :)
    [IMG]

    Last but certainly not least... safety chains....

    Hey, I believe you got that in the Mesa area? I have one just like it, but have all the interior stuff - the sink, pump, stove, etc. I also recovered the mattresses and seating with really nice fabric. The fresh water has a leak, not sure if fixable or not, but the pump works. It needs the soft propane line and regulator is all for the stove, stove works.

    This is the deal: I need to replace the whiffle tree - which will cost me at least $350! Right now I have it opened up with a crank-winch pulley. Right now it's not worth the trouble, the time or the expense and we were thinking of parting it out.

    We are in Gilbert and I would be happy to email you pictures of the interior.

    Thanks... finally finished the interior wiring and control center... here's pics...
    [IMG]

    So, I decided to put my battery cut-off switch inside... that's it on the way left (cut off). Also, above it I put a 12v receptacle... that was in the trailer when I got it... probably use it for the portable DVD player for the kid.

    [IMG]

    There's everything turned on. The first two switches are for the water pump (blue) and the step light (middle red) that are planned but are not installed. The thrid switch is the "accessory" switch for the stereo. RIght now, it's MONO, but... it sounds VERY good for costing $50. :)

    The gauge is a Equus voltmeter wired to a momentary switch. Cost me $20 total... and much easier to find / replace than an RV meter.

    I think I will re-do the control center if I re-do the interior. I'm not really happy with the material I chose.... it's 26ga sheet metal. I think I need a thicker base for it, but it's all I could find at the time. It works for now. :)

    The diamond steel really dresses up things everywhere it goes. It would look good as the panel for the control center, but that may be a little hard to cut out.

    Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming!
