Private or public? If public there are scores to select from at www.recreation.gov.

One that comes to mind is one I camped at last month. Badin Lake in the Uwharrie National Forest. I selected the campground WITHOUT electrical hookups (there's one WITH electrical hookups) and camped next to Lake Badin. Great place to launch kayak and a boat ramp for powerboats is not too far away. Also have marked hiking and mountain bike trails. Near Morrow Mountain.

Sorry it took so long to reply,
between working overtime, a sick DD,
and a sick DW there's not much time
    left in the day.
DD is 2 now and the only word she
knows is NO! Our last trip was to
KOA Va. Beach about a month ago and
DD is still doing well with the Pony.
She sleeps in a bunk now and no
    problems so far.
Next trip will probably be Xmas
to the Gulf coast of Mississippi
    to visit the Parents Y'ALL.

If you don't mind dry camping, Crabtree Meadow on the Blue Ridge and Smokemont in the Smokies are both nice, we have tent camped both places. Under national parks in the campground section on this site there is also a recent review of Mt Pisgah campground on the Blue Ridge. Additionally, while I haven't camped there, I have heard that Standing Indian campground (National Forest) near Franklin is a pretty campground and I believe that at least one of the bath houses has hot showers.
