Been searching for weeks. Does anybody know if there are any popup campers that weigh around 1000 pounds? I was told my 2003 4 cylinder Honda Element pulls 1500 pounds. If anybody has this type of car and is pulling a popup, please let me know how it is working for you.

    Thanks

Modern 8ft pups can tip the scales at 2000 [;)]lbs or more.

The Quicksilver 6.0 (620 pounds) and 8.0 (856 pounds) are both well under 1,000 pounds dry weight. Check them out HERE.

I know a guy who pulls a Fleetwood Neon with an Element. In fact a bunch of us saw him this weekend! My Coleman Columbia runs around 1000lbs too!

Coleman Columbia or Colorado for older used pups. For new you are looking at the quicksilvers or other tent roofed trailers.

I had a 1984 Coleman Columbia that was 960#'s. I currently have a 1992 Coleman Seneca that is a 10 foot box and weighs in at 1,500#'s. I towed them with my Toyota Tacoma that is rated to tow 3,000#'s.

You can tow with your Honda Element, you will have to research the trailer you get so that it matches your needs and TV.

We own a 2009 Rockwood Freedom 1940LTD 10 ft pop up. It weighs 1100 pounds. We pulled it with our old Chevy Venture minivan the first year. No problems at all except on big hills.

Remember cargo in the PUP will add to the weight you are pulling. Our cargo is about 350 pounds.

There are some that weigh in around 1,000 lbs, but by the time you load a few things, plus the cargo and people going into the Honda, your no doubt beyond max.

You don't say how many warm bodies that are coming along, but let me guess and say there's just two. The important thing about tent trailers is they get you up and off the ground. Some are fancy, some are practical, but what have you thought about these very light ones(?) I've looked this one over and for what I do it would work just fine. And your Honda could handle it with ease. My point is that I would rather have something like this that was a cinch to tow and ENJOY it rather than having something I'd be towing at risk, or what we call "white knuckling" it.

yep! and I believe he pulled a Columbia before the Neon but he might have had a different TV then. I am sure he will find his way to this thread eventually! [:D]

Our Chalet LTW has a dry weight of about 900 pounds. We've seen them pulled by Jettas, so they'd be a piece of cake for a 4 cylinder Element.

I know this gets mentioned every time, but it's critical to see what the car is rated for total gross combined vehicle weight. I'm concerned the total weight of the Element, trailer, passengers and cargo will exceed its rating. Look on the driver's side door for this rating. This is different than the towing capacity.

    Here's another option from Costco:

This is the one I'm considering when I can finally afford to buy a PUP.
