On our way to our annual anniversary trip to the White Mountains my Reese SC threw the right hand weight distribution bar for the third and final time. Out it goes.
Piece of crap. I had to hammer the bar cover back into shape after it was run over by a following car.
Probably going to get an Equal-i-zer

Are those a POS in general? Three times sounds like three times too many.

Don't know why you were having such problems with the Reese, but you will be very happy with the Equal-i-zer, Jimmy.

Three IS 3 too many. I wouldn't have expected that out of the Reese. Reese is supposed to be one of THE go-to brands for towing.
Reese also makes the Steadi-Flex. It looks like a way better design than the SC. But the SC looked good before.
The problem is the saddle design. Every time it's jumped off, it has been in a turn on a side street where there's a change in elevation. The bar pushes the cover off then the bar slides off the the saddle. Thankfully the bar itself has never been lost, but I always have to go looking for the cover. Also, those automotive brake shoe type friction pads last 1 year, TOPS. after that they're smashed apart.

Mike, what model Equal-i-zer do you have? More specifically, what tongue weight / bar rating do you have?

I just ordered the Equal-i-zer and the bracket jackets.
    Wish me luck!

OK. That's the one I ordered. So if I don't like it. It's all your fault.

It arrives tomorrow from eTrailer. Looks like I'm spending Saturday morning in the office complex parking lot. Big and flat and wide open.

That is the best way to set them up. Plus when you start swearing, nobody is around to hear you. ;)
