    Howdy all,
I am a new member that just bought a 1969 cox pop up.I paid $250 for it and it needs a lot of TLC to make it look sharp.I love reconditioning old stuff so this is going to be a lot of fun.I will submit pictures to the forum when I get things started.
The cool thing about the guy that sold me the trailer is that he is a woodwooker and has a lot of extra materials(counter top stock and birch paneling) that I am going to use to totally gut the interior. What makes it even better it that he is giving it to me for free(awesome).Anyway I am looking forward to many quality camping trips with my wife and 4 kids in the future.

    Happy camping,
    Steve Heeney

I, also enjoyed the many hours restoring and doing mods to our pup. There is something to be said for folks like us. Crazy! or crazy like a fox. Good luck with your new endeavor. Post pics of your progress, we all like them here on the portal. Oh, and welcome.

I will send pictures hopefully next week.I just bought my trailer yesterday and I have to wait for my brother in law to haul it back to my house(need his truck to haul the free wood the seller is giving me).I will be pulling my camper with a 2000 Dodge Durango.Any hints or suggestions you might have concerning gutting a vintage trailer would be much appreciated.Thanks.

I have a Cox camper and so does Funrover. I'll be glad to help you anyway I can.

It's nice seeing the results of an overhaul on one of them.

Good luck! I can't wait to see - my dad tells me that the pup we camped in as kids was a Cox Cadet somewhere in the '67 -'69 range. My DH grew up with a Starcraft.

  10. Geez, Funrover is the person to ask. He basically gutted his to the floor (except for that beer in the picture <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Wink">.

The first question would be is it a canvas roof or a solid roof?

My Cox is a canvas top.I am not sure which model it is only that it is a 1969 version.I had to leave it with the seller until next weekend so I do not have it handy to check the info.Funrover did you have to replace the plywood in the fold out sections? Mine has not been used since 2001 and it has been sitting out in the elements ever since. The only part that suffered damage was the plywood on the underneath of the fold out section(the part that shows when it is folded up).Apparently they did not have a cover for it;thus the damage.

For the wood on your bed part, it's really thin wood. Probably some luan from Lowe's, Home Depot etc would work.

However, you could always go thicker. The Cox campers are really lite anyway, so unless your pulling it with a Miata or something, you should be fine with the thicker plywood.

Thanks I checked it out, but seems like all they have are for
Pop Ups, mine is a fold out.

If anyone knows someone who's interested in buying my 1968
Cox FOLD-OUT, let me know. Just needs a new canvas, so easy to
    pull.
    Thanks!

I'll bet you would sell it quickly on Craigslist.
