I just purchased a 2001 and the top is splintering. What i mean is that there are tiny hairs all over it and if you touch it with your hand or arm you end up with fiber splinters.
I have googled my butt off but nothing seems to come up.

Im going to use some common sense and guess i just need to sand it lightly and paint it with something.

What did you guys use to paint the roof?

Be careful sanding fiberglass (if that indeed is the roof material). Wear a mask to avoid breathing in the fibers.

If it were me, I'd lightly sand, clean the dust very well, then put down a sheet of EPDM or TPO rubber roof membrane. Adhere it with a roof glue.

On commercial roofs, membrane roofing is adhered onto fiberboard material with a special adhesive. They also make that stuff (membrane roofing material) in a white color too.
