I have a question for anyone who has camped at Smokemont or in the Cherokee area. We are planing a tenting camping trip in early October for 5 nights. Does anyone know which, if any, campgrounds in the area will let people not staying there pay a small fee and get to take a shower? I know some places do that but have yet to find a definite answer anywhere. We are definitely staying at Smokemont, we've camped there before and like it, just never for that long. We've camped over long weekends and can do without a shower for a couple of nights, but for 5 nights we really would like to get 1 or 2 showers in, plus we have 2 little kids this time who I am sure will end up pretty dirty.
    Thanks,
    Christina

What about going to a nearby truck stop?

I'm only familiar with the Tennessee side.. I would google search for a private campground with shower houses. If we stay in Cades Cove we camp in Townsend TN.. So thats a suggestion from a tent camper to a tent camper...

I believe most private campgrounds, not resorts, would probably let you use the showers for a fee. Especially those close to Smokemont since they know there isn't any facilities up there.
