I was camping with some friends at Tar hollow state park, I don't remember exactly what month. We were sitting around the fire, enjoying adult beverages, and the noise level got louder. Then there was a toad heading for the fire pit, I pushed it away with my foot. After a couple more attempts we called it a night, My friends headed across the parking lot to find it covered in TOADS. They were everywhere, with no fear of being eaten, we went to sleep. The next day we questioned the naturalist at the park. THE BEST I EVER MET, she told us that it was mating season, and we were lucky to see the event. OOOOOKKKKKK, Ron(I have witnesses)

Funny how nature does it's thing. I once (in Manatee Springs State Park) saw so many lightening bugs during the mating season that I actually sat out and could read a magazine. do not forget the LOVE BUGS, us Fl. residents are well aware of them and so is front of our vehicles.

One of our favorite camp places is at ELKMONT CAMP in the Smoky Mtn Natl Park... During the month of June I think it is they have these very rare Synchronous Lightning bugs there. They say its only place in the US where they are at. When they get started then all light up at the same time haha... We finally got to go there one time to see it first hand...

Glad we was camping there as when the peak came all the roads all around ELKMONT was lined up with cars and people every where. It is a hugh attraction for the area...

These Synchronous Lightning bugs are at a off road at the ELKMONT CAMP so if you are camping there you really get to see a light show first hand...

We used to live in Wichita Falls TX and like to tent camp around the couple of big creeks that run through there.. The land turtles have their mating season as well and it turns into one big road kill with turtles running up and down and across the back roads around there.. Hitting a turtle on the road doesn't sound good at all haha... Same goes for Armadillos which are all over North Texas and West Arkansas... Same goes for the Texas Rattlesnakes...

WOW, that's cool. It did take a little longer to get there, but not long enough to get to Colorado, Thanks for the contribution, Ron
