i have a 2018 RAV4 Adventure already set up to tow to include 7 way connector and brake controller. Also have air bags. Factory hitch and wiring.

Does anyone here tow a pop up with one? I was thinking about a 206ltd—no AC, 20lbs tank and one batt.

    Thanks for any insight.
BTW my towing cap is 3500lbs. And I don’t want to go over 2000lbs.

Rav4 and towing makes me shudder... I will assume at this point the "adventure" package is some fancy way of Honda saying it has a factory tow package? Cause if not your tow rating is about 1/2 of that 3500lbs.

Go by the trailer GVWR, if the GVWR for the trailer is below the vehicles tow rating, you are one small step closer to being able to tow the trailer.

    I know I wouldn’t trust what Honda says a RAV4 can tow. ;)

I am more concerned about tongue weight. My max load is 900lbs. That’s passengers, gear, and tongue weight. And BTW the Adventure has a larger radiator, tranny cooler, oil cooler, and heavier springs. Not since the V6 RAV4 has there been a tow package. I have no knowledge of Honda’s.
I do have a Ford F-150 V8 supercrew 4x4 lariat. But I don’t want to use it for this.

Tongue weight should be obvious. If while towing you scrape on speed bumps etc....you have a problem.

Using generic conservative numbers, a 15% tongue weight on a 2,000 lb trailer would be 300 lbs. That would leave 600 lbs of payload for passengers and cargo. You should be fine there. If it sags more than your like you could always add a set of airbags for less than $100 if you do it yourself.

Yes my RAV4 has air bags installed already.

At this point, it is time for me to move on and keep looking. They would not go down on price and I wouldn’t go up. I will find something at my price if I’m patient.

Whoops, sorry about that. It helps to read the first post and then reread it before replying again.

Keep at it. The right one will come along eventually and it sounds like you are already good to go to tow whatever that one may be.
