Started camping with family as a child in the 1960s. Have seen a lot of changes in my life and the way people camp is no exception. Managed to stay single and free to roam until in my 30s when I married my first wife. By the time I was 40 I was single and free to roam again. A few years later I remarried my current wife. I never had kids, DW has two. Both were grown when we met and the oldest had a child. Very early in our marriage the courts placed the child with us for a couple years and then returned her to the parents at that point we didn't see them or the child for about five years when they popped back in our lives. In and out often dumping the now three kids on us for days. Ended up in trouble with the law and DSS again and the courts placed the kids with us again, this time permanently. Life took a major dump on our golden years plans, but the kids have been a major blessing in our lives. The DQT is now graduated HS and moved out. Camping is now more enjoyable and less expensive for the rest of us. If we are camping close she may come for a day, hang out for a while, eat, but she leaves before bedtime. Even this requires near perfect weather and cell service.
