Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

I was going to try and fix the cracks and gg over the top but when I took the cover off this spring, this is what I was greeted with. So it seems it's inevitable. There seem to be more success stories out there for taking the ABS off completely and bed-lining it and now that's my only option...

Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

Quick question. I believe I've seen one or two of you say you got the 4x6 grizzly grip kit. Was this enough for sufficient coverage with multiple coats? Or would you advise me to go with the 4x8 kit? Thanks in advance.

Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

So I think I've figured out what the tackiness on the front is. There was a prior attempt to repair some damage at the front driver's side corner with some fiberglass and flex seal tape. I'm guessing they saw some delamination while they were working on it and decided to try and use some...

Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

It does not. I have one started out of 8020 extruded aluminum but still need to work out the mounts. I'll post more pictures later.

Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

Mine's a 96 I believe. It certainly felt like the manufacturer waited too long after spraying the adhesive to apply the shell. The area towards the back was stuck down really well but the rest had almost no adhesion. I realize that it's been 26 years but the difference between how stuck on the...

Coleman popup ABS roof repair on a 2000 Westlake

I see a lot of you talking about a fiberglass layer between the ABS and the foam. Are you 100% certain that it's fiberglass? I just pulled the ABS shell off my Shenandoah and what I see seems a lot more like an old, hardened, green colored, spray-on adhesive. Either way, after you removed the...

How much different in height front-to-back is normal?

Thanks guys. I measured the supports and there was about a 3" difference. I made the pully position adjustments mentioned in the manual and now there's about an inch difference. I'm thinking I'll probably look into adjusting the cables as well at some point. I also noticed when I raise it, the...

    Coleman ABS Roof

The gg is the last thing I'll be doing. I'll be doing it mostly to protect and prevent any future cracking.

    Coleman ABS Roof

I'm getting ready to do some repairs on the '96 Coleman my wife and I just bought. The ABS roof is actually in pretty good condition. One corner got smashed at some point and will need repaired. The rest only has a few minor cracks. The front and rear trim are actually in worse shape than...

How much different in height front-to-back is normal?

My wife and I just bought a 1996 Coleman Shenandoah. I've seen a number of posts on roof sag and though the sag isn't too bad yet on ours (it doesn't have a roof AC unit), I plan to be proactive and re-enforce the inside anyways to prevent future sag and ABS cracking. Before I do any...

New Coleman pop-up owner from western NE

Hello all, My wife and I started off our camping experiences with tents and got a utility trailer that converts into a tent somewhat resembling a pop-up about 2 years ago. Recently we decided that while handy and cool, it was too crowded for us and our 3 kids (1 more than we had when we bought...
