i always have to help mine down, but i have added an extra thick mattress, so i let it settle the air out of the foam and it closes easier...still...

cheaper for the mfg. to have a short drain. they take every short cut possible. no reason you cant modify it. i have the same problem with mine...

i much prefer to use a free standing table for the stove. no matter how the trailer is set, you will get shaking on the stove if it is attached...
