    Outdoor sink question

We bought the sewer cap with hose connection, when we first bought our TT. (We had removed the sink in both of our popups). We've never used it. For one thing, we often don't have sewer hookups. Another is that having the draining angle good so small amounts, such as you'd be having with the...

New Axle - 1984 Coleman Williamsburg

When we needed a new axle for our travel triler, a local "Spring shop" made the new one. They've been in business since blacksmith days and do work on many fleets, including big industrial trailers (such as those that haul front end loaders). They were recommended to us by the dealer, who...

    Favourite Pop up mods

I made bunk end skirts for both of our popups. Forst set was cotton canvas, with sewn on Vlecro, Velcro stapled to the under side of the bunk end. It did help to have a place out of the weather to put chairs and such, but with that tiny pup, there really wasn't much space, and it wasn't...

December 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

It's actually called an AeroShield. it maybe saves us 1-2 mpg while towing. It seems to help with the bow wave as semis pass and such events. You can just see it on top of the truck here.

December 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

Aero flap is now off the truck, since we won't be towing until at least March. Removes my landmark to find the white truck in a sea of white trucks in parking lots, but will exercise my short-term memory. Stashing camper-related things in the house, all the bedding and rugs are washed, etc.

    Camping reservations

We have a camping season that can stretch into November (for Thanksgiving) so our booking window goes later than February. We were talking about our possible trips yesterday. For the 4th of July week, we need to be online Jan 1. Our October 2-week trip to Grand Canyon will need to be reserved in...

    Camping reservations

We tend to make reservations as soon as the window opens. For most of the national park and US forest Service places we go, that's 6 months in advance. For some of the concessionaire campgrounds in NPs, reservations can be made a year or so in advance. Utah state parks is 4 months. Makes for fun...

    Blackstone, bbq’s or campfire cooking?

The old Coleman white gas stoves are pretty sturdy, and can be rehabbed. There are collectors that love those and the lanterns. The only time any of our three smell bad is just as the main valve is turned off. although some count three as a collection, we're not collectors of those. We ahve two...

    Battey hook-up

Do you have a photo of what you have? What camper do you have? And convertor? Most modern ones will charge the battery from shore power, older ones may not. Some may overcharge if left on shore power too long. The battery should charge from the truck if it is set up that way, do you h ave a...

Do people only choose Pop Ups because they have no other choice?

We looked at A-frames early on, too tight for us, which is why checking out a range of options can be a good thing. As it was, my husband's head brushed the ceiling in our first popup. The "you sit down, so I can stand up" in that tiny popup got old. Even with travel trailers, we've had to look...

    Blackstone, bbq’s or campfire cooking?

Old thread, good subject. Personal preference. Many seem to like the Blackstone, but it just doesn't fit the way we cook and eat while camping well enough to add to the mix. In 33 seasons of camping, we have never had a wood campfire, let alone cooked on one. I bet we both could still make good...

Do people only choose Pop Ups because they have no other choice?

All of us (or at least most of us) have to make trade-offs and budget, one way or another. For me, it's not that one form of cmaping is superior to another, it's different. Backpacking is much different than even front country ground tent camping, and so on. I made that trade-off argument years...

December 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

We have the trailer home, new black valve installed, no charge. Our service advisor said it was obvious it was defective. Now parked for the winter, i.e. a far to that side of the driveway as we can manage and still have room for garbage & recycle bins, and access to the back yard.I'l call the...

Another Yellowstone Camping Question and also GTN, Glacier, Banff and Jasper

The first time we visited Glacier was sometime during the Clinton administration. We were basing in Grand Teton to do both it and Yellowstone, and learned the president was arriving in a couple of days. The traffic was crazy enough without a presidential visit, we didn't find a good campsite in...

December 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

For those needing it, here's your battery charge reminder. As I'm posting, it's not even 7 a.m. local time, and not a thing done for the camper. It's at the shop to have the black tank valve replaced, so the driveway looks empty. I'm going to work on quilt projects today, one of my next quilts...

November 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

Total mileage for 2022 was 4410 miles, 3679 since new tires on the first trip of the year. We only camped in NM, CO, and AZ, so the longest travel day was about 450 miles, coming home from Tucson the other day. Otherwise, we had a few about 330 miles, others were less. Dropped the trailer off...

November 2022 - what did you do for your camper?

I totaled the nights camping in the trailer (see my signature) and this was the best year since '19. That's in spite of canceling two ladies' trips with my friend, due to each of us having surgery timed to cancel a trip. Taking it to the shop in a bit, for the black tank valve replacement...

I guess my computer list is an extension of my pencil and paper. If nothing else, it's a lot more legible!
