Again DON'T...
[PUC] [TV] We built the bunk end shelves with some $8 wire frame shelving you see at walmart. just needed chain and some pop rivits and we were good to go.
we hope to get to that point by next year. We are both travelers in health care and want to do a bit of that. I think you could combine your idea along with a geo caching trip. could be fun.
One good question to ask is what will the fuel economy be like with a camper on the back. Our Xterra gets 21 MPG daily but takes a hit at 13 MPG towing our heavy Coleman E3.
Consider your needs:
Will this also be a daily driver?
Will you have the extra power when needed (mountain driving)...
Running A/C in your camper and using a generator MUST be stratagized! I see too many people buying $3000 generators to run their coffee maker or A/C when they could buy a french press coffee maker for $15 totally eliminating the need for a geni.
First things first:
BUY A POWER SAVER...
A pretty rediculous reason to argue considering that "pitch" of the Honda is saving the owner $$ by adjusting the throttle for best economy. How much gas does that hog go through just to please your ears?
We picked up a new Tow Vehicle last month and added some finishing touches to our E3. We just replaced the crappy filon roof with a 2011 aluminum (1) piece roof from Beckleys. No other mods this year yet...
Another useful tool:
Volts = watts/amps
Watts/Volts = amps
There are more formulas but most people can do their own equipment with these.
Great thread!

I like your mods Steve. At first it seems crazy that you only used a 1.5 watt solar panel but for your Fleetwood Neon you probably only have 1 light bulb and that is the only thing inside of that camper that requires power so it seems like a fair fit.
nice job.

Wise is awesome!! I ordered my Honda Eu2000i at noon on Friday and had it 22 hours later! Those Yamaha's are sweet and equally compairable to the Honda for a better price. The ECO mode is sweet!
Our camper got a new roof!!! One of only "2" roofs left for the E3 and this was the ONLY 2011 roof. I am replacing the crack and leaking filon roof with the aluminum offered in later models. Roof arrived today!!! [:D]
looks like a it could be a nice breakfast room, especially since you'd be backing it into a site. Some of these sites are right on the edge of a nice woodsy hill. can you imagine a small table, two chairs, breakfast and coffee and a view like that?
I know ZERO about tires but I think with our EVO tires there is some sort of wide wall strength you have to consider. I'm thinking you could mess up the sidewall strength if you deflate them. again I'm not sure. I have the BFT T/A KO tires.
It would be cheaper to switch out to a Power Saver A/C. We are using the Coleman Mach 3 P.S. (power saver) on our Coleman E3 and it uses just over 10 amps/hr. We power it with "1" Honda Eu2000i geni. that produces 16 amps/hr. Going this route saves power and the fuel of running 2 generators.
