Well we pulled the trigger on a Casita. We ordered a new one, and it won't be ready until next July, so we'll have another year to enjoy our PUP, the Shangri-La. It's been a good run and our first trailer-living experience, but after having to cancel a Yosemite trip in April due to weather and...
I was trying to figure out why "we" was in quotes, then I saw your signature. HAHA!
I really wish I could see one in person to get a feel for it. Still on the hunt.
Anyone with a Casita or Escape in the Bay Area, California wanna give a tour? Lol.
A 17-footer would be snug for four, but we're used to being close in the PUP and we're all pretty short! I have heard that the Escapes are better insulated. Not a huge deal for us, but something I am keeping in mind. I had the same idea about scoping them out at campgrounds. Both companies...
Bad puns aside, and as much as I hate to say it, we're considering a move to the Dark Side. Our PUP's roof is delam-ing something fierce and the front storage box and bulkhead really need to be replaced. I keep telling myself I'll fix them myself, because we do love our PUP, but the reality is...
Finally able to take the Shangri-La this weekend and grabbed some pics of the issues with the storage box. I really like how much I can fix in this thing and I'd lose a lot of space by going to a truck box or similar. Losing the hot water heater would make up for some of that, though.
Anyway...
I know a lot of people have replaced the ABS storage box with a truck box or a fabricated replacement. I'm not too confident in my fabrication skills, but a truck box could be an option. I did just notice today the box is starting to crack on the lower part of the front, so that will definitely...
We've had our 1999 Coleman Nevada for two years and love it. All the appliances work (except the hot water heat, which I can't figure out but isn't a big deal). The canvas is good, it tows great behind my Envoy, it's a good size for our family of four, and now the kids are sentimentally...
Finally had time to look at this again today. This is correct. The drain plug actually screws into is the part that broke off, the tank itself is actually fine. So, yes I think I could actually tap the hole (its smaller than the diameter of the threaded drain plug) and screw the plug directly...
That's pretty much exactly what happened to me! I saw a little bit of water appeared to be seeping out and when I barely turned the plug the whole piece came off in my hand. Do you have a photo of the valve you used to replace it?
While fixing a different water problem under the PUP today, I noticed a little drip coming from the plug on the water tank. When I went to try to tighten the plug, the whole deal just broke off the tank. I noticed the other connection to the tank is also cracked, but not leaking yet. Anyone know...
I just wanted to say how great the Portal is!
We got our PUP almost two years ago and have used it quite a bit. Most of our stays have been at RV parks with hook-ups, though we prefer places like state parks, national parks, and national forest campgrounds. We're campers, not RVers. But, I...
Thanks for the offer. I went ahead and ordered a new pump. Should be here today. The rocker switch was on when I did all my testing. The motor was definitely running, just not pumping.
I assume it is, otherwise why is it there, but is that fuse there necessary? In other words, when I install the new pump I should make sure I have a connection with the fuse like that?
I was able to order a new pump (it was just a few bucks more than a replacement head, so why not?) that should be here by Tuesday. Plenty of time before our trip.
As for the electrical on the install, the connections that are currently there are these weird connectors I've never seen before and...
So, the tank vent was plugged, but I fixed that prior to trying out the pump. When I was trying to fill the tank, the water would just come gushing back out the inlet. Turns out some wasps or something had made a nest in the vent. I cleaned it out and was able to fill the tank up all the way...
