its has taller sides & feet, up off ground, the grills i salvaged from old weber grill fit perfect. entire pit can be cooking surface.
right height for chairs / marshmallow roasting, cooking.

last 3 sites i camped, a) ground not lelel enough for chairs, b) fire ant beds too close, c) upwind of picnic table in 30 mph “breeze”.
i was so glad i packed it.

even if its HOT, we have to roast marshmallows!.

(at this point in my camping life, i want comfortable - so i dont go home a bruised achey mess!)

id rather pack & not use than need & not have.

tell me about shoreline & swimming.
my dogs ❤️ love the water.
barney just soaks, bella will be playing ball- the entire time! (Photos Father’s Day @lake Whitney aka “trip of disasters”

Well, as far as your campsite, you are on a tall bulkhead. I have seen swimmers off it, but I would not because of old lines, hooks, etc. Dogs are not allowed in the swimming are that is roped off or in the playground/day park. Dogs also are not allowed in water at boat ramps for obvious reasons. I’m not sure where you could swim them.

I'll be bringing some old pallet wood again. Scraps of 2x4s that I cut down to get some small boards out of. Won't account for even one night's fire, but it'll be good kindling for any fires that need it. Probably a couple of cubic feet, but not much more than that.

    TXbum,
Hi there, I have Phoenix who will be 11 in September. the only thing he is allergic to is NOT eating cake.

Are there any vegetarians/vegans/gluten free/etc etc that I should know about for the pot luck? I dont mind fixing dishes for special diets (rather used to doing it actually).

We will be bringing a Kayak and possibly a standing paddle board.

if guys are cooking, are gals doing cleanup?

for breakfast i will put in
    doz eggs
    gal milk
    orange juice

i also have drinks/sodas i will put in.

    pot luck ( decisions!)
are we cooking anything or is it reheat & eat?
    decide for me:
    • big bowl antipasta salad w traditional italian veggies (cold)
    • .baked beans
    • veggies kabobs /yellow squash, zucchini onions mushrooms* etc—if we have a fire going to cook.
    • chicken to grill

got my cool new glamping roasters ready! i have plenty of the metal hangar kind in my gear.
if they are in store, huge marshmallows ! good chocolate!

if one ball of YELLOW YARN is found, we have the 4 elements covered. any shade from pastel to day glow.

and, my serious bed repair is done! I'm cleaning, primping & packing this weekend.
if the lift kit arrives, lloyd will do the springs over axle flip& i get the new spare tire.
truck got new front shocks, fuel filter, oil change & “new” transmission checked out.

it will hit 326,000 miles this weekend.

tues the truck tires get rotated. thurs i will take the trailer to air up new tires.

    almost road ready!

@Katskamper - Glad to hear on your bed repair! Good luck with the axle flip. Swapping mine out wasn't bad. The hardest part for me was ordering the "right" sized axle (getting all of the dimensions right). As far as tools used it was just a few 6 ton jack stands from Harbor Freight, a bottle jack, and a few wrenches - no welding.

@Txbum - We have 2 September birthdays - Sara on the 13th and the youngest will turn 2 on the 19th.

We'll be testing out a new griddle on this trip. Got a good deal on a "tabletop" Blackstone 22" at WM with a hood, stand, and bulk hose adapter - $117 on "clearance", 2 weeks before Labor Day. I think someone messed up at that store. Others in our area still have it listed at $147. We'll be bringing this instead of the 28" one that we've had in the past. The 22" is basically the same amount of cooking power, but more evenly distributed on a smaller top. Hopefully its lighter weight and compact design will make it easier to carry and set up while camping. If we like it well enough I may have a 28" griddle to sell.

I've also got some electrical work to complete, hopefully prior to the trip so I can relax at the trip and not be doing repairs. The outlet that the AC plugs into has been getting warm, so I'm replacing that thinking that the blades have opened up, increasing the resistance (seen it happen a lot at work ending in melted cords). Also both of our LED ceiling lights have started flickering. Removing the cover on the last trip showed that the circuit boards have been burned from their internal heat. Replacing them with the updated version of the model. We'll see how long they last.
