So, looks like my mafia commuter car, 2.0L 6speed manual Dodge Dart makes the list of cars for pulling popups. Heck, I got it because of mileage and a real timing chain, not as a pull star! Never thought about adding a bike rack, let alone hooking to the ol' StarCraft! https://www.autobytel.com/car-buyin...a-pop-up-camper-on-a-summer-road-trip-129101/ Discuss or Laugh, your option
Internet experts ba,ba,ba. I can pull a popup with my garden tractor ..... doesn't mean I should. Towing is more than just facts/numbers. The weight, hitch, bumper/hitch height, how the trailer is loaded, how the tow vehicle is loaded, and more all play a part.
"a lot of popup campers weigh well under 1,000 lbs" <---------- Ummm, NOT! I'd say those are few and far between.
I'm selling my Tahoe and hookin up the Dart. Interweb says so! If I want to get off a stoplight I have to turn the AC off, or I'd lose the race to a Yugo. When I saw the article, I thought it was best Tow Cars for a camper list - I'd buy that. Serious funnay here folks
Not very good editors, don't they know that a 1/2 ton is 1000 lbs. After all, the Dart can tow up to half a ton, a benchmark that tops the towing limits of the Toyota and Honda compacts by 1,000 lbs.
I remember those! I lived in WV at the time, at the top of a long hill. My grandparents also lived up there, and from their house, you could see the road coming up the hill. One day, a Yugo tried to come up and was struggling very hard. I think they were moving about 2 mph. My grandfather was losing it about how our country was going to hell in a hand basket now, with crap like that being sold as cars. He was legit enraged. It was hilarious.
