My wife and I have been VW camper owners for about 16 years. In recent years my nieces and nephews have become interested in camping with us, so the Bus fills up fast and somehow I always end up in a tent. Decided it was time to get me off the ground, so we recently found this vintage pop-up. I believe it's their Riviera model. I also believe it to be about 99% original. It's in great shape aside from some surface rust, about 50% of the faux wood flaked off the back, and a substantial hole in one of the screens. Overall I'm not complaining. I am, however, looking forward to some fall camping. David.

and a pretty clever hanging shelf/clothes rod that I understand to have been built by the original owner.

    Thanks all!

Ha! I thought I was overdoing it as it was. Anything in particular you're interested in?

Any you have outside or inside. Nimrod pics are hard to come by.
I grew up camping in the 60's with my parents and the first pup they had was a 62 or 63 Nimrod.
It's great to see one in nice shape.
    Thanks.

I only have a couple more photos - one of the door and one of the floor. I'll be taking it out a lot in October and will be sure to take more and post them in the Rig forum.

Thanks. Nope. That was a nephew add-on.

Wow, did that bring back memories!!!! I grew up camping in that exact same model! We towed that thing from CT to ME, down to FL a couple times, TX, CO, IL, and everywhere in between. Finally the mice destroyed it while parked at my aunts in NH, but that was sometime in the late 80's. Even had the orange floor and mattresses! Thanks for sharing, hope you enjoy it.

Yeah, we had one of those, too. Yes, it is a Riviera. I loved that camper. Hence, my username. Wish we could still use it, but we moved on to a tent, then other campers. Never the same feeling as with the Nimrod. Welcome to the portal.

Welcome! The Nimrod is the camper that my dad had and took us camping in the 70's. :)

Welcome - thanks for sharing the pics of your cool vintage pup! Isn't there a Nimrod camper owner group?

Beautiful camper you have there. The vintage color schemes take you right back. Enjoy being off the ground!

I remember ours had a bumper sticker on the back from Disney World, proclaiming they were opening in 1971! Parents had it there before they were officially open.

Thanks everyone. Good to be here. And I'm glad I could bring back some memories. I have to admit I had never heard of a Nimrod until I saw this one. I was looking for an Appleby, but once we climbed inside we were sold. The only childhood memory I have camping was when my dad bought a Ford Leisure Van in '76, so we could camp on vacation. The first trip out was just an overnight stay on our way to visit relatives. When we arrived my mom found a large beetle in her suitcase and that was the last time we camped. Neither of us know where we got our love of camping. I know we've created some fond memories for our niece and nephews and hope our son enjoys it as well as he gets older.

We've only driveway camped in the Nimrod since we bought it. Our first trip was just moved up to this weekend. It's just a local weekend trip, but I'll let you know how it goes and will take some more photos.

Thank you. I'm not aware of one but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

I see what you mean. I've found some old ads and a couple for sale but not much else. I did post some photos online:

Seriously, I'm having a lot of fun with this camper, so if there's anything specific you'd like a picture of let me know and I'll post it.
