Hello All! I recently bought a vintage pop up out of a farm field. I know nothing about pop up campers . My plan is to take it apart to the frame ,then rebuild it using the hardware that is there.

Welcome from N/W Panhandle. Main thing is to take pictures and draw sketches. The take your time on taking apart and rebuild. Good Luck with the project.

***Update (8/29/19)*** I spent all my budget :) so I'm on break for a month until I get more money. Building this has been a blast and very challenging the reward is coming soon.

About to use mine after a total rebuild as well, keep plugging along.

Jon, how are you supporting the ac's weight? Planning to support from bottom outside?

@ Overland thanks for the kind words. I chose to let the ac rest on a 1 x 2 flat on the subfloor of the camper. and a block of wood on the frame of the trailer to support the rear of A/C.

Good.. I didn't see the support in pic. I was hoping the wall itself wasn't all you had figured on. I wouldn't hang much on the OEM style construction.

Nice work on this, great resto. I envy your work space..

That looks absolutely beautiful! I too envy your work space. I'm in a dim stone floor garage with one light bulb :/

Nice work so far! Just curious if you're planning to fab some sort of cover for the ac unit and what you're doing to seal around it? Seems like a prime spot for water intrusion if you ever got caught driving it through a storm, and it would be a shame if all that nice new work got soggy:smiley:

@Evan Gaffney ...Greetings and thanks for the questions. To tell you the truth I'm just winging it. I do plan on making a cover to protect the air conditioner from rocks and bugs while driving. But didn't really think of heavy splash and what not from weather. I am a fair weather camper so if there was the chance that i would be in a storm I would not be driving around. Don't really plan on going across country, mostly within an hour from home base. This is not a project that I went out looking for. I had finished my last shop project earlier this spring and my buddy told me about this camper for sale that needed a lot of work for 100$. So I went and picked it up and here we are. ;) I been working on the cabinets and laying them out specific for my family's needs. T his is going to be just a sleeper. a few pic's from this last weeks work.

Nice. How much does it cost for the restoration?

@ Starcraft Its very affordable. The hardware store only charges me for what I take. :) But in all seriousness I'm saving every receipt, and will have a total at the end of build. I estimate total cost to be under 2000. goal is 1400.

    ***New pic's***

Was going to wait until I finished the trim work. But I'm the type of guy who gets excited to show what I been working on. Have a great weekend.
