We got this Pup Cheap $150! BUT it totally needs major work mostly a good cleaning/some odds and in replacements "the big" cost will be a new canvas it's total junk!

We are going to try and do all the inside work first and then move to the outside just before we want to take her out for a spin.

Anyone have any info that might help us? We are searching for a manual but no response yet.

So far from our "detailed" look we need a new door, replacement canvas, roof-latches about four of them, a new hand crank, and a few other small cheap parts.

Anyone have any sites we can visit maybe old parts or something that we can work from. I know this will be a huge project esp for a newbie but we wanted it and now we are ready to deal with it!

One of the sponsors here is Kathy’s at http://www.catheysrv.com/
Try them or Google for RV parts on the internet.
Before you start on the inside you might want to make sure the outside is weather proof.
Good Luck.

Happy Camping!

Keepup08,
Welcome to the Portal!!!
That's the exact same camper as I have, except mine is an '85.
I have the manuals in .pdf format, but they're on my laptop. I'll try to get them for you...PM me with your email address and I'll send them directly. While you're waiting, there is one manual for Jayco Maintenence on this site, under Manuals, that contains some pertinent information, and the Jayco Lift System is the same as well.
Other's will point you to the best sources for canvas. You can probably rebuild your door by using the sheet metal and parts, and just sandwiching a new piece of wood inside. How's the rest of the wood in the roof and floor??? Check closely for wood rot.
Also, don't forget to check out your tires and wheel bearings. Your axle has a 1 1/16" diameter spindle, so order the bearings and races accordingly. You'll need tire size 5.30x12 Load Range C.
Good Luck, and I'll try to get back to you soon with the manuals!!!

My wife is slow sometimes forgive her! Ours is a 85 as well! TY TY sooo much!! We plan to rebuild what needs to be replaced.

Believe it or not the wood is in good shape a lot of rust on the outside but it's solid. I will prob buy new tires just to be sure they are good to go before our first long trip.

Congrats on your N2U pup, enjoy that baby! Just be sure its a worthwhile investment, the canvas will be likely the biggest cost item. To me, a pup you fixed yourself seems that much more like home when your own sweat and tears are in it also! Let us know how it goes!

Keepup,
Manuals are on the way in your email.
We all definately recommend replacing the tires if you don't know how old they are, or if they're more than 2-3 years old, or dry-rotted/cracked, etc. Even if the tread is good, the rubber breaks down over time.
Good Luck and enjoy!!!

Sorry that took so long to send...the files were bigger than I thought, and I must have timed out the first time.
Enjoy,

Keepup08, you should be able to find those "small, cheap parts" at a local RV store.

Check out Canvas Replacements for other parts. He is a member here, and has been very helpful to several of us in obtaining parts & advice. Oh yeah, he also carries the canvas <img src=../Images/icons/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle alt="Smile">.

Good luck with the rehab.

Hi

I recently bought a used PUC and found out way later that I was missing the door. I searched all over until I found one that was close to the size that I needed. After I purchased the door and had it shipped to me, the guy I bought the PUC contacted me to let me know he had the orignal door in his garage. So, I have a used door that may or may not work for you. If interested, let me know what size you need and I will compare. I am not exactly sure what my spare door came off of.

You guys are awesome! Always helpful!

It's funny my wife and I spent about two hours in the cold today cleaning everything out and found the door inside under a bunch of trash..

We actually had to go see a Dealer today to buy a replacement crank it was actually cheaper then what we saw online we only paid 19.97 the ones we found on eBay were going for 35.00.

The floor is sound as can be and no tears/pulling.

We do need to replace the roof latches that we found on eBay cheap. The dealer said to try and find the Vin num and they can either order/find any parts we need which really isn't that many.

We have been pricing canvas online and found a site that will sell one to us for $694.80 with free shipping. So we are going to try and order that soon other then that everything is in perfect shape. A few small replacements here and there but we got a heck of a deal!

Don't forget to get the bearings repacked. You don't want the wheels locking up on you. A camper that won't roll down the highway won't be much use to you.

keepup08,
where did you get your canvas online? Mine just blew in several places and I dont think the patch kit I had already ordered (before this last trip) will be enough to cover it. I see a range of prices on line and would like to find a good deal. Luckily we arent camping again till the end of the month. Hope we get it resolved by then!
