Some of our SPs are a 1st come 1st serve. You can reserve the opportunity to camp, but not a particular site. I'm not particularly fond of this, but hey at least we will be camping soon! Yea!!! :)

Ours are first come first served as well but you pick a site when you arrive and then come back and pay after your set up.

Also known as "not site specific" reservations. First come first serve usually means no reservation at all.

I am also not fond of the FCFS at our state parks.... but then again, I am so picky about the kind of spot I want, I have a hard time determining if the spots are good for me or not via the reservation websites and google anyways.... so I just try to get there as early as possible so I can pick my spot in person. It is rare to go to any of our state parks and NOT have a spot.... but the good ones usually get taken pretty early [:(]

Last weekend when I was about to enter the SP another pup turned in right before me, I parked before he did and made in the check in station before him and got one of the better spots left.
