Belay that request for the engine specs ... went to the Ford truck site and got them. Geezze ... that's a lot of torque ... and at 2500 rpm yet!

You'll not have any problems walking right up the side of those mountain roads!

Sure has my attention - keep us posted as that engine breaks in!

Will do Fly.
Just for the hell of it I reset my fuel meter this morning before I left the house to get a snap shot of my mileage going to work (26 miles and 32 traffic lights). I used the cruise control as much as I could even for short distances between stops or traffic lights. I got 19.6 mpg! I can't believe what a difference it makes to let the truck handle that gas pedal. The cruise on these trucks is so smooth and no matter how hard I try to mimic what the cruise does with my foot I just can't seem to get the mpg that it does on it's own. If nothing else, this "live" feedback fuel gage thingy has really made me very aware of my lead foot. I can't say that I'll always worry about the magical high mpg number but right now it's kinda fun to see and experiment with.

And no Bill you can't. You have your own new toy to play with. [:D] btw... How are you liking it? Have you got use to the size of these things compared to our old Taco's? I'm just now starting to feel at home in mine. Hal told me this morning that I'll be getting some insider information that will make me some big money. God I hope he's right, I need to pay for him. [LOL]

But Dave my v8 is running out of gas [LOL]. I love this truck and all the room I have. Going back to the tacoma is no way too small a vehicle for me now. They gave me 26K for a trade in on my 05. Talk about high resale value! Here's a pic of my back seat:

They gave you WHAT!!!???? Holy crap! Did you have gold plated rims on that puppy or what!? Heck! I didn't even pay 26k for my Taco when I bought it new! I didn't trade mine in cause I already had them $200 below dealer invoice plus another $5k in incentives and they would only go 7k on my 02 Taco. I actually walked out the door and waited for them call me back the next day begging me to buy the truck. I gave them an OTD price I was willing to pay and said I wanted a bed liner and mud flaps included in that price. They called back in about 20 minutes and asked me when I wanted to pick up my new truck. [:D]

Seriously?.... 26k??? Wow! If you're not pulling my leg, you done did good Mr.

BTW... Nice looking pup ya got there.

Yes, it was an offer I couldn't refuse. I paid 28+ for it new. I added a few items, but yeah, they gave my 26K on trade. Then I got 1400 for my old F150 that was rotting out. I wanted to save it for my grandkids some day, but the rust got the best of it. I got 5K in rebates + 500 for being a veteran. They included the toolbox and bedmat and clear bra. My OTD price was 10.3K +TTL. The truck listed for 42+K. They gave me 2.99% financing which I hope to pay off quickly. I just had the front windows tinted at 20% for $99. They put the rear mud flaps on for me but I had to pay $49 for them. I ordered the truck blind. Didn't know all I was getting. But very happy with what I got. The ecoboost was more money and a "hot" seller in my area. I got the 6.5 foot bed and I'm ready to go camping with it. (so is Max). Max was cramped a bit in my tacoma and now he can stretch out. Next year we are planning on getting a new camper, but have no idea as to what. Anyway, tacomas have a very high resale value. They should have offered you lots more for yours. @@@### dealers. I went on the highway with it and got 21.3mpg going 65mph so I'm happy. I got 22mpg in my tacoma V6.

Thanks Dave on my dog Max. He's a good camping german shepherd. [:D]

Do you know what the relay & fuse is for in the glove box?? I should probably ask the dealership. I think it has something to do with towing.

I haven't even opened the glove box yet so nope, I have no ider. [LOL] I'm guessing you are right though.

I thought I had done good on my deal but wow did you get a great deal! And it sounds like your getting pretty good mileage as well.

Just think.... You just drove a new 2005 Tacoma for a wopping $333 per year! If that doesn't put a big ol smile on your face nothin will. [:D]

You Mr. are one lucky dog. Well... Actually both you AND Max are lucky dogs. [;)]

Las Vegas, NV.
Tacoma's hold their value insanely well! All Toyota's seem to due great at re-sale. I just sold my 1990 Toyota V-6 2wd pick up, it was very clean for the year with quite a few ad-ons but it was still a 21 year old truck with 176,000 miles. I listed it for $4,000 and got 6 calls within a few hours. It was sold right away for my asking price.

My 2005 Dodge Ram quad cab 1500 on the other hand sold for $29,000 in 2005 and is very clean with 95,000 on the clock, I picked it up for $8,500. Dodges have horrible resale value.

Although I love Ford's, that Awesome Ecoboost won't hold it's value like the Tacoma.

Dave, I found out that they are for towing. They are not spares! The dealership put them in for me. Said it had to do with trailer brakes and charging the tt batteries. [RTM] [:O]

Congrat's Marines! You'll need more than just a day to figure out all the crap in these things. LOL I'm still playing around with some stuff and reading the manual as well as the SYNC manual. The one thing I'm trying to figure out on the SYNC system is if there is a way to have it tell me all the artist I have loaded on my USB stick. I know how to ask it to play a certain artist but I suffer from CRS so I can't remember all the artist I have loaded on it to ask. [LOL]

If anyone knows how let me know. [;)]

The other day someone cut me off in traffic and I yelled out the "A" word. Hal then promptly said..... "I now bring you the President of the United States of America." [LOL]

I love this Truck! [:D]

Latest update

Just so I make Fly's gramma happy with "no story tellin" I figured I'd take a quick picture before my last fill up. [LOL] Da proof in in da puddin ya might say. Most of those 400 miles was from driving back and forth to work. Only about 40 miles was hwy mileage. I sold my old Taco last Wednesday with-in 24 hours after posting it for sale on CL.

I haven't towed with it yet but as you can see, Hal has his break in miles under his belt now. I'm not sure when we are boondocking next but it won't be too far off and I'll keep y'all posted. I've actually boondocked more in Oct. than I ever have. Nights are getting cold but I think we will manage a few more nights at our hunt land before the season ends on Jan 1st.
