Re: TX Rally...all info in one thread, schedule included

I started looking for my fire tote yesterday and I think I left it at the ranch! Crud. Gotta look harder, especially for my charcoal chimney. Haven't been in the attic yet, but I have a sinking feeling...we usually cook over coals. Also means I have no fire starters I made :( Good thing I can make a fire anyway, but your starters are always welcome skeeker! We will need them in the morn from the looks of things.

We planned to be going up to the ranch to work every weekend, especially once hunting season started and well, life and kiddos get in the way. But thinking that, our game tote, kitchen tote, possibly fire tote, etc. are all at the ranch! I am used to being packed that way so we could take off at a moments notice...toss it in the car and go. Also a good way to keep my stuff from girl scouts. I've lost too much equipment before this system.

Edited: so we are decided...everyone brings their own utensils, etc. Sounds good. We are a small group anyway, so I am sure there is plenty to share.

On the banks of the San Marcos River, the resort is located:
13 miles from San Marcos, including Aquarena Springs, Wonder World, historical downtown district
17 miles from San Marcos Outlet Mall shopping center
12 miles from Lockhart, "Barbecue Capital of the World"

I have sites 43- 63 reserved by the river for us. So far sites 50 and 51 are taken, rest are available as far as I know (check it out on google maps if you want to pick a specific spot). Ask for Sheila to make reservations, she is very helpful about finding you the right spot, btw. Be sure you mention Texas Puppers when you make reservations so we get the discount at checkout.

Friday
7:00 ish: Meet and greet with your neighbors, cookout at the pavilion for those arriving that night

Saturday
Daytime: Join your neighbors for lunch and shopping in nearby San Marcos, Gruene, or New Braunfels
Golf at nearby courses…Enjoy wine tasting at nearby winery
Tube or raft the river…Or hang out again and enjoy the pool, BB or Volley ball courts and Putt
Putt range

Fall Festival at the pavilion that day, shop or even sell your wares, booths are free

5:00 pm: Open House Trailer Tour for those wishing to show off their PUPS or campers (we are curious
folks) but this is not a requirement!

6:30 pm: Casserole Pot Luck at the pavilion. Bring a casserole or side dish to share with
your neighbors, or bring something sweet! BYOBeverage of
choice/musical instrument, etc.

8:00 p.m. S’mores around the campfire (please everyone bring something to contribute [;)]

Sunday

8:00ish: Coffee around the campfire. Say farewell until next time.

Children's events TBA as soon as I know a count. I will plan something according to age range, so far 4 yo, 11 yo and 17 yo.

If we wind up with a small group, we might want to talk about what people bring so we all aren't eating beans and meat (though not a bad thing, I would prefer an assortment and something green, lol)

Hope to see you there. Safe journeys, everyone!

Wendy
WOW! you sure seem like a organized person.. if i was only half that. [LOL]

Re: TX Rally...all info in one thread, schedule included

Just to let everyone know we have 7 families, 20 people confirmed. I like that. Nice, tight first rally.

#48 - Indy, dh, ds 18 yo
#49 - vacant (too small for anyone apparently)
#50 - WendylouWho, dh, dd, dd's friend (maybe) both 11 yo
#51 - Skeeter, wife, superman son 4yo
#52 - Shfd739, wife,
#53 - Txbum, wife
#54 - Phoodieman, baby girl
#55 - Jeffinsa, wife, dd 14 yo, ds 11 yo

(I have names and some are in sigs, but it's not my place to go putting them all up there for those who like their privacy)

I am getting excited! And now frantically searching for some extra camping gear as I am finding most is at the ranch! Darn. We are even down fishing poles (that kids can use like zebco's, otherwise, AFAIAC, dh has TOO MANY!!!) and camping chairs! Guess I now need to work on double sets of everything for moments like this.

Wendy if needed I've got a spare charcoal chimney, maybe a couple of hunting chairs, not loungers but they work. Also plenty of kids poles as my boys do fish. Let us all know what you lack and I'm sure we can pool things together and come up with what you need!

What he said. We have extra chairs and what not so if you're needing something we can help also.

Are we still doing a pot luck meal for the group?

Gotta do all our grocery shopping today cuz of work this week.

Thank you guys! That really helps my stress levels, lol.

YES! Potluck is still on! Bring what you will. I am changing my mind on the something sweet (not much of a baker) and thinking of beans, broccoli salad and oh, something else I said earlier that I can't recall, oh bratwurst! I was thinking venison, but we will arrive late and that has to be low and slow.

vagov...borrow away! No mind at all [;)]

WOW, situation has really changed. Our friends down the street offered us their Dutchman (?) PUP for the rally! Also, dd is staying at a friend's to go to a last minute girl scout event (um, I failed to mention. oops). So it might be just me and dh or we might bring our son and a friend. It's up in the air.

And thanks for all the kinds offers, we are drowning in tents here, 4 maybe? 2 large, 1 med, 1 small one. I just had everything so organized for tent camping that we just took our totes with our PUP not thinking we might just decide to up and tent camp or something, so in Comanche they stayed. Thankfully, with dd not going, we are good on poles, she just can't cast spinning reels or such, only zebco's so those are at the ranch for the pond. We are good on bedding and I am even now washing the coleman sleeping bags from my childhood.

But, Txbum, I might take you up on the dutch oven offer. Let me see. I can do without the piñata and cuervo [;)]

Still looking for my fire tote.

OH, and we might/will need guidance backing up a PUP at night in a camping space. Marlin is good with boats, but this is a different animal and his driver's side has no mirror (don't ask, I am sure it was not me). We've only ever taken our other PUP to Comanche and we made that drive thru (though he backed it up in the neighborhood.

I've got to put an injector in my truck before the trip otherwise I'm asking to spend a butt ton of $$$ in fuel. Also need to balance my tires and find someone who can align 35 inch tires. What fun...what fun...

No offense whatsoever, but I wouldn't trust a bathroom in discount tire [LOL] not to say there aren't good people there, but a high turnover rate within our area typically leads to guys who really don't care much about their quality of work.

Ive had good experiences with them the last few years so I keep going back...And I havnt been able to beat their prices or the replacement certificates.

This is true, I will gladly admit that their warranty and prices a far beyond what most other places can do.

Everyone, rain was light so looks like it going to be good weather. Rain estimates were really lowered for today. Winds should help dry things out. Txbum
