I see in the pix of the CG what I assume are bear boxes; is this correct?

I'm no stranger to being bear aware and taking the proper precautions, but this is my first camp out in WA. How likely is a bear encounter? I would suppose that for this CG, as full as its going to be, the chances are slim to none.

That part of the Cascades is black bear territory but I doubt we'll see one.

Matt, don't down yourself buddy. I know a lot of folks think the Air Force isn't really military, but one-half (1/2) adult??? LOL.

We'll see you at the end of the month. Send you a couple PMs. One regarding the info requested, the second just POC stuff.

    Salutes,
    Steve

    Woo HOO!

I just got a call from the body shop. The truck will be mine at 3:00pm today. Perfect timing. We should just be getting back from the county seat after picking up our wedding license.

    See you guys soon!

What picture was that? Interesting. We've never been to Salmon La Sac, but we've camped other areas in the Cascades, (in bear country), and we've never seen a Bear Box at any of them.

I don't remember where I saw the pix. It's possible that what I saw was the fire pit; but it was square and had a lid. At least that's what it looked like from the picture.

I'm not saying there are no bear boxes but so far I've not seen a bear box in a national forest CG in the Cascades.

Only bear boxes I've ever seen in Washington are at a couple NPS campgrounds in the North Cascades.

An encounter in this campground isn't highly likely. Just exercise a normal amount of prudence and all will be well.

Sorry to hear Sal can't make it, but good that his spot has been filled by another PUP-er.

Also, the attendees list thread (*not* the list at the beginning of THIS thread) has been updated to reflect changes. Please let me know if I missed something.

Wow! The time is getting away from me! I've done nothing but work on my deck for the past two weeks. I better get the TrailManor out of storage, bring it home and do my Spring cleaning, water system sanitation and systems check.
