That's how I plan for Midwest camping. period.
Swim trunks in the duffle bag and anti-freeze in the cooler.
Thought about making chili or Bloody Mary stew, but if it's warm like last year, not so much. Still undecided.
I am not sure yet either on the potluck. I think I will wait until the 30th and see how the weather looks. Oh and you can pack bottles of antifreeze in the duffle bag. If it's cold, anti freeze, if hot it is called coolant. The swim trunks won't mind the company.
thinking of making pulled beef for sandwiches and dessert of course..... requests??
Oh darn! DH and I are already going way up north for a week with our pup so we can't make it to the rally this year and it's so close to where we are . Maybe 2016 will work out better!
Do you guys ever rally in state parks or do you prefer parks with more things for kids?
Both the June & Aug ones, we do in County Parks. June is Petenwell and Aug is Shawano. Both very nice CG's. With all the amenities at Shawano, it's almost more like a private CG.
State parks are a little hard to coordinate everyone. Wisconsin has an 11 month reservation window. Usually most of the electric sites are booked soon after this window opens, usually before many people know if the specific weekend will work into their schedule 11 months away. We have found Shawano Park to have sites open sometimes a few weeks before the weekend we are going and Pentwell had a few sites open almost to the arrival day. (Maybe not that close but I think you understand what I am trying to say. )
(Fall rally) has changed location mainly because of the time frame and trying to find a good centralized location for that late in the season.
We would love for you to join us, remember like Bullfrog said we have a June and August rally as well!
I think we're going to bring barbequed home-made meatballs.
So how many people do we have coming. For my site we will have 2 adults. I am thinking I might do Italian sausages again.
We have two adults. Eileen and Myself.
4. Sue, me and the two girls.
We are three DH, DS2 and I. Jasper will clean up the crumbs that hit the ground
Just received confirmation that we have plans for Saturday after the wedding. Looks like we will be sitting this one out. Next year we will just have to party twice as much.
That's kinda suckish! I hope everyone can navigate the bathroom without ya.
We're gonna have to cancel. We just can't afford it.
Sorry to hear that. Hope things improve with job situation.
We're kinda in the same boat Bruce, it's definitely a stretch for us too.
Then to top it off we have two conflicts for Sunday - I'm scheduled to sing in church [choir]
and Josh has his first concert of the year with a call time of 1pm. We have to pack up and be on the road no later than 10am Sunday.
We may bow out too
I tell ya, this whole summer just seems like it's been a bad dream and I'm gonna wake up and everything is back to normal. It's sure been testing my faith.
I guess if nothing else, we'll have camp back yard while we open her up and clean her out for winter storage.
Well.......since we now have 3 conflicts for Sunday this was a sign to cancel our reservation.
When I called Vista they said sorry you won't be camping with us, and we also cannot refund you ANY money since it's less than 2 weeks notice. This is their policy, no exceptions.
New plan is forming.... thinking I found a 'proxy' to camp on my site.....
We are in for the potluck and campfire. Pat and I will be up by lunchtime and join the gang
