OK folks, let's start thinking about the next SoCal Rally. What about Boondocking? (there would be pit toilets but not much else) or would you prefer flush toilets and showers? I suggest we look at the weekend of Oct 28-30. That gives everyone plenty of time to plan and reserve, if necessary. I'm open to any ideas and suggestions.
    Thanks.

I like the idea of boondocking!!

If we head out to the Anza Borrego Desert east of Julian there are plenty of FREE CG's!1 Blair Valley, Bow Willows, Well of 8 Echos (spooky for Halloween), and others!! There are 2 CP's near there for people that want hook-ups (Agua Caliente, also has hot spring pools and a little store), or hot showers no hookups at Valicito CP. There are also 2 private RV type parks with little stores!

There are also the Mud Caves a few miles off the road, plenty of hiking trails, 4x4 trails, and great star gazing!!!

So I'm in!! that makes 2!!

I would like that the california rally would be in that area as well. it would make it easier for some of us from Arizona to come over and join you. I'd be interested since I currently do not have a trip planned that far out this year and by October it is too cold to do anymore camping in the upper elevations here where i like to go.

Remember since this has been a annual rally, it does not require a min. to make it official [:D]

I think we were planning east of Julian, boondocking, on S2 between Shelter Valley and Aqua Caliente CP! Thats a 25 mile stretch and has at least 4 primitive free SP CG's!!

As that is somewhat central, easy for AZ people also, and near other previous SoCal Halloween Rallies, free, no limit, no reservations!!

Anza Borrego can't get much further for me. I'll be coming off of my long vacation (month prior) and I don't think I'll get extra time off. It's a 10 hour jaunt for us so I would need at least four off ( preferably 5) to do it. Even 2 hours north closer puts me half a day longer in enjoyment. We will see. If it is in a non reservation plentiful place, the cosmos could filter me a day or two within a month of the rally to maybe make it.

We shall see. Thanks Nancy for thinking of us.

Looks like we are official then. So let's decide on a place. Haybale has some great suggestions. I'm fine Boondocking with a pit toilet but some members may prefer more amenities, like flush toilets/showers/potable water? If that's the case, Tamarisk grove is a sweet, small campsite with some short nature trails across the road. So, here"s the first vote:
    Free Boondocking/no reservations needed
    Or
    Designated campground?

We are fine with both.... With that said, I'll place my vote for Boondocking [:D] ...... but Halloween is so far away [:(]
