Yes I know this season has just barely started, but have to plan these things well enough in advance, so people can mark their calendars now and clear their schedules..

    Background:
As some of you know this past Victoria Day we camped out at Inverhuron PP.. Excellent park that continues to be improved each year.. This year they have added 3 new water fill stations by the office (one of which can work with those rigs needing a pressure fill for the water tank) as well as two new dump stations ..

Last year the park unveiled a brand new loop (Holmes Bay) as well as new group camping sites right on the water..

    The Plan:

Get a group camping site at Inverhuron for 2017 Queen Vicky day.. Already checked into to it somewhat and you can fit up to 6 trailers on each group site (and up to 35 people)... Oh did I mention that they have hydro available on the group sites.. Obviously cost would be shared by everyone, for example: a long weekend in 2016 runs just shy of $500 (plus tax) for the 3 day weekend, with 6 families that would be less then $100 per family...

Now while there is a couple of these sites are still open for later this year, for next Victoria Day, we would have to book 6 months in advance , So by December this year would need to know who is committed to doing this, not just interested as the fee's would have to be paid at reservation time..

You have until December to decide... Just tossing the idea out there right now to gauge interest ..

Bah. One day we'll make it work. By then my 8mth old son should be a bit older and could enjoy it a bit more. My 7yr old daughter on the other hand might have a bit of attitude by then. Haha

At this point, I should be able to make it. A new park for me. I've marked in on my calendar. Would it just be for 3 nights (F/S/S)?

Seems about a 6 hour drive for us...might be a bit much for 3 days. We will think about it. I think you would get a good turn out from those members in S Ontario.

Correct...I find it too much. Others love the driving but I find one hour driving per night enough. We will see!

So according to the talk on one of the Facebook camping groups Ontario Parks are going to be converting the majority of the group campsites (at a number of parks) into cabin rental sites.. From what I read this includes the group sites at Inverhuron [:(]

Now that doesn't really change much other then the site location.. Instead of being on one of the group sites we may have to pick a loop and reserve individual sites..

We would love to see something in Eastern Ontario between Ottawa and Montreal or Cornwall.

It is a possibility for 2018... Probably use one of the Parks of the St.Lawrence..

I see that the reservation window for the rally dates is now open. Which area will we use. Would like to reserve now, since the long weekend will book up quickly.

The Holmes Bay loop being the newest loop (2-3 years old) is also the most popular and fills up fast.. With that said I would suggest looking at the Lime Kiln Loop, sites 127-177 ..

In typical fashion, I have to wait until the nonsense at work with shift and crew bids, vacation bids are completed prior to booking anything..
