After a few frustrating attempts to back in and getting the truck and camper all cockeyed. I said F#@K IT and pulled out and around the loop for a fresh attempt. I was going more than 5 miles per hour. But NOT the speed the others imply. Thus a "Hot Lap" of the camping loop.
#crankydave takes off points if he helps you back in. Even if you don't ask him to help.

Got it! We will see if Greg needs a HOT LAP....although I doubt it. He has never done one....his stubbornness just keeps going and he gets it eventually.
The most fun was at Charleston Lake last year when the site pics proved to be somewhat off from what was actually the case. Other then the drivers side mirror hitting the sign (no damage done), we had to practically jackknife the truck to get the trailer into the spot. After much swearing and a beer or two cracked.....all was good! The kids know to either keep quiet or get out and go for a walk. And as the truck pulls up to the site...I know to get out and observe the site before Greg starts backing up.
It all ends in laughs anyhow, even if there is a bit of yelling to begin with.
I think at the KoTS Rally, last Victoria Day weekend, I sent the kids down to Pat's site. Our site was a soggy mess, and the trailer kept digging into the grass.....Greg was afraid that we wouldn't even get out at the end of the long weekend. After 2 long 2x10's and some lynx levellers.....we got it backed in and as leveled as it was going to get.
Honestly, I think we've had more ease backing up the big rig, then we ever did backing up the pop-up. A lot less swearing but about same amt of beer was drank. So, all in all.....I'd rather back up the big rig.

He tried his best, and he is being way too modest. There was definitely daylight under the inside tires as he went around the corner at the end of the loop!

A long trailer is easier to back up than a short one. Assuming you have ROOM for a big trailer.
It all ends with a laugh though. That's why I like the group that I've adopted as my camping family. A cold beer and some liberal ball-breaking. It's tough not to laugh when I walk over to the group after finally getting it parked and Mike says in his best disappointed tone "ohhhhhhh Jimmy"

Pat, you're going to convince your Canadian camping group that I'm a reckless idiot!
    That's MY job.
