Wow that thing is huge! And tandem axles!
That is a nice unit, really big and roomy. This your new unit Steve?
Man, what a beautiful rig.
yep, this is the one we have, and love it so much
This the one we originally wanted, but it wouldn't fit in our garage. So we ended up purchasing the 2019 Rockwood HW277.
Looks like the Fleetwood Avalon
Good to know there are still options when my Arcadia goes. Not too many highwalls anymore
I’m seriously thinking about buying a 2021 296. My other option is a small Airstream. But I think I like the pop up more!
Just a heads up on the 2021 highwall models- they no longer have the "hard wall" wet bath surround. I was looking to buy a 2021 Hw296 or Hw 277 until I was informed that the new models will now only have the flip up, ceiling mount curtain surround wet bath.
A guy from Rockwood informed me that because of so many "warranty" issues with the hard wall wet bath surround that they will no longer be putting them in the campers. He wouldn't say what the issues were but did say some of the problems weren't actually warranty issues but they were fixing them anyways. Bummer.
Regardless- I plan to do some searching to see what "issues" they had been having. Maybe it's something easy to fix. I am still going to look for a 2018 to 2020 Hw 296 or 277. Right now they are hard to find.
Oh wow...that is a bummer. We have the 2019 HW 277 and love our wet bath. We did experience an issue with the hinges on the fold down walls, but it was an easy fix.
we bought a used 2009 Fleetwood Avalon high side in July 2020 and we absolutely love it! I don't think Id want one with a bathroom without the hard walls for some privacy. Having a bathroom inside is one of the biggest reasons we got this one. OH, and we love the dual axles and sway bar.
The Avalon is the only camper that I might almost want over my Arcadia... but there is no way I'm redoing all the mods on another camper...... Avalon's are hard enough to find now, I imagine they will be near impossible once my Arcadia is worn out in a decade or so
I was shocked to have found this one and in the first summer of a pandemic! It was very well taken care of with brand new curtains and upholstery and I felt the price was very reasonable. It was daunting at first because it was quite a bit bigger than the last one, but after a couple of trips out, my husband said "this is my favorite pup so far!" (we've had four!)
I'm also on my 4th, if you count the one my parents had when I was a kid. The Arcadia and that tiny, light 1982 Lionel were my favourites by far - and they were absolute opposites in every way. I still would buy one if I found one somewhere to fix up (and keep the Arcadia of course)
lol! good luck! were not fixers, so we had to buy one that didn't need any fixing. We even have someone winterize and dewinterize it!
That is a VERY simple job- but since I pay someone to mow my lawn, I’m not going to criticize
