2020 8TH annual Illinois popups spring rally

Welcome to the 8th annual spring rally for the Illinois pop-ups group.
We are planning another one for the coming spring. This one is going to be held at the same place we had our first one and several others.. Champaign County Forest Preserve District at Middle Fork. 5 miles north of Penfield Illinois on county rd 2700E which is 11 miles east of Rantoul Illinois. Sites are $25 a night. All are 30 Amp electric with lamp post, fire pit, rock drive. Most are very deep but all are back ins. Showers are in the south east portion of the camping area. Usually very clean. Reservations are through the Champaign County Forest Preserve District NOT Reserve America. Its being voted on right now for the date. If you want to cast a vote please remark here or go to our Facebook site, " Illinois pop-ups." We are a private fb site but we will accept you as a member and then let you vote. And as I said vote here for a weekend in May 2020. We have 3 weekends because a lot of moms want Mothers day at home instead of at the campgrounds. The dates are May 1,2&3rd and 15,16&17th and 22,23 and 24th. Voting ends November 1st. Just in case you don't want to use facebook, at current count the 15th is ahead about 10 votes to the nearest competition. But we would really like your input. I will be keeping this site updated on main conversations so get your vote or questions answered here. Welcome friends.

Dback2k4 , yes we do. We start it off with a meet and greet Friday night after you're set up. On Saturday we have some crafts for the kids. We have some fishing if you have your license We have some flat lander hiking. Then we visit each other if we cant do the hiking. We get ready for a potluck and make our favorite thing to cook outdoors. Then we devour our friends food in a mighty potluck. After we can't run anywhere we start the raffle. Everyone wins something and then a big item is raffled. everyone is eligible for it. Then to top it off we have an expert Firemaster to run a s'more campfire that pretty much could be a bonfire. But it doesn't get carried away. lol.
This year we are hoping to have a Breakfast on Saturday morning. All the proceeds are to go to the park district to help with the rebuilding of the main lake. We have been using this campground for 5 or 6 rallies and we want to help them out.

OK it's on. The date is set as well as the place and sites are available. Let me go over this.
Time will be: May 15 to 17th. A day early and a day late you'll still see some of us there.
Place: Middle Fork Forest Preserve which is east of Rantoul Illinois about 11 miles on county rd. 2700E & state route 9 which is 3500N as well. The name of the campground is Harry L Swartz Campground. We will be in the sites to the left of the main road in. We are trying to reserve around the second road to the left once in the campsite area. That will be#7-12 & 12-20. Also we are having a few in #1-6 road . If we get more we will take in the next loop which is #22-29 & 34-38. Their all good sites . Flat sites, firepits & lamp post for your lantern come with each site. A couple are a little short on lengths so be sure you put on the application the true size of your camper. I would say 98% have plenty of length for your rig.
Prices are simple, $23 a night 2 day minimum on regular weekends.
Showers are over by #5&6 but across he road. Pit toilets are scattered about so it's not a long way to releaving yourself. Dump stations are out where you come in. There is a shelter out there to that we will have reserved for our potluck. You still might want to bring your lawn chairs just in case. Saturday morning we are going to do a breakfast for the campground. Its still in the planning but there will be one. The Price will be by donations only. All these donations will be for the Harry L. Swartz campground pond repair.
We will have a raffle to after the potluck so don't run off. Everyone wins. And one family will win a grand prize.
Topping it off we will gather by the rally site back in the campgrounds after the raffle and see how big a fire Doug Illinois Plainsman can get the fire ring fire without overflowing it. LOL. Thats some times the best relief of the whole weekend.
