Well, add one more trip this stupid virus has ruined. My niece is graduating college this year and because of all the restrictions, they moved graduation to... you guessed it, the Saturday of the Connecticut rally. So guess who isn't going to be camping that weekend. I cancelled my reservation this morning. THIS SUCKS!
I have nothing nice to say about this so I’m going to keep my mouth shut. PA better stay open because I have said “I wish we were camping” too many times this week and I am “thisclose” to losing it and just pulling the camper to Camp Minihane.
I know, I about blew a gasket when I found out. I am so sick of this crap. It sounds like we will be OK for the PA rally, but who knows. I am at least able to go locally to a private campground, but it's just not the same with out my camping family.
So the good news is that the campground plans to open on June 12th! They will not accept any new reservations this year so if you don’t have one already, we’ll have to welcome newcomers another year. Looking forward to getting the camping season going soon!
I'm glad I hung onto mine. I just made a bunch of leave request for work. So I should be covered for all upcoming trips.
I've put it out to the universe that you WILL be in CT....I refuse to wait until the end of September to see you!
The CT Rally will be happening! West Thompson Lake campground is open as of today. There aren’t any new reservations being made but those of us already booked will be able to camp!
I have a res. for Friday night to Sunday. I would like to get in Thursday night if I can but I cant book anything new yet. If I can't we may overnight in a nearby private campground. Any suggestions?
I would call them and see if you can extend your reservation. The daily operations of the campground are run by camp hosts so they might be able to finagle a change to an existing reservation rather than going through the website. if you try that and they can’t or won’t extend, the other places we’ve stayed on that side of the state are Odetah Campground (we weren’t fans but plenty of people like it) and Sunfox Campground (we liked this place). They aren’t right down the street from West Thompson but Sunfox is on 395 which you can take right up to West Thompson. You could also cross RI or MA off your list of states to camp in as both are not far from West Thompson. We just haven’t stayed at any of the campgrounds that are nearby.

We're going to arrive as early as possible. I might check to see if the site is reserved from the previous night. If it's empty when I arrive they might let me in early. Nope. Booked right up to Friday
